The Vineyard Way
This logo is for a climate action plan all of the towns of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts USA. The target audience is our residents and visitors. As you can imagine being an island puts us at a particularly higher vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. The Vineyard Way will be our pathway to a resilient and healthy future for all of us. The Vineyard Way plan will seek to enhance our resilience to the impacts of climate change in six areas:
1. Energy Transformation
2. Food Security
3. Land Use and Natural Resources
4. Economic Resilience
5. Infrastructure and Transportation
6. Public Health and Safety
Martha’s Vineyard is our home. Whether your family has been here for centuries or just a few summers, the Island’s character, natural beauty, and unique way of life connect us to each other and this place. Throughout history, the sea has shaped our spirit, industry, and traditions. Now we face the impacts of climate change, from sea level rise to more intense heat and storms. It threatens to disrupt the very aspects of Island life that we treasure, changing our coastline and endangering the health of our natural resources, the stability of our economy, and the well-being of our community.
Our six distinct towns share a collective pride in the Island and, through The Vineyard Way, have come together to write the story of a tight-knit community that rises to this challenge. We’ll tap our connections to nature and each other as we consider climate-resilient actions for the buildings where we live and work, roads and paths we traverse , vehicles we drive, food we eat, services we use, energy sources we deploy and natural places we enjoy. We’re navigating uncharted waters, but we’re doing it together.
We have a rich history, but our future is not yet written. We’re drawing on that storied past as we commit to a stronger future. Our climate action plan, The Vineyard Way, will detail the next chapter as one of resilience , of a community rallying together - as we have for generations - to protect what makes life here special.
