Hi! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for designs ranked in the top 10. We like to earn points.

~~ NOTE: While in JUDGING mode, the designer ranked in 1st can still submit revisions.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

Everyone - I've noticed some tendency to go to easy but overused design patterns like "pointy man" and "ubiquitous swoosh". I know these are classics, and actually DO look good, but... by now, they're no longer original. See http://www.thelogofactory.com/logo_blog/index.php/the-logo-design-hall-of-fame/ for a great writeup.

For what it's worth, I'm unlikely to rank designs incorporating these types of elements very highly, simply because I'm looking for something unique and different.

Also - FunDesign started things off with a great design (currently ranked #1) that incorporates an infinity symbol. I've seen many other infinity symbols you all have come up with (not sure if you saw FunDesign's first, or whether it's just a natural concept.) I think that idea (infinity tying to "forever") is cool... BUT... I'm not sold on it yet (seems a trifle obscure for my target market) and I'm looking forward to designs without the infinity in it as well.

After reading up a bit about the point system I've changed how I rank stuff. I now put just one concept in the top 10, leaving variations in the 11+ slots. I think this gives a better representation for everyone, and correctly rewards those who come up with new and interesting concepts.

So, if you see that you've got something in the top 10 and an almost identical version (especially just the color change) is way lower, that's why - it's not that there's that much difference, it's just that I don't want to crowd out the top 10 with variations on a single concept.

I've also moved the ones I put into "not interested" pile back into the ranks, albeit at the lowest levels. I appreciate the effort it takes to do variations, and I believe if I leave them ranked you guys get a point.

Let me know if there's anything else I should be doing to improve the contest.

Thanks for all the great designs, I'm excited to see even more concepts as we get near the end!

Everyone - just a quick update prior to final selection. Thanks so much to all the designers, we really appreciate all the hard work. Now we have the unenviable job of picking the winner out of a bunch of really excellent designs.

We're just getting results back from our focus group, which will influence but certainly not decide the finalist. I expect to be able to make the final ranking and decision in the next 2 days or so.

Thanks again, the quality in the top 10 is really outstanding.

Thanks again to all designers who participated - it was incredibly difficult making the final decision. The focus group agreed that all of the top finalists were excellent, and we couldn't make a wrong decision. I really appreciate all the hard work you all put into this, and hope you'll enter future design contests we'll run to support additional products over the next few years.
