Thanks for the submission! This is an interesting concept.
re: #88 - The figure is a bit *too* representational. Nice femininity, but probably to the extent it would scare off the guys. I'm mostly playing to the 84% of my market that's middle aged women, but I don't want something that would immediately turn away the men. I think simplifying and abstracting a bit more would help.
re: #85 - the hair makes it even more representational than #88.
Re: #90 - this is much stronger. It will be even better if you can further simplify and strengthen, so it holds together in a smaller size relative to the words.
Re: #91 - cool concept! really neat. In its current form, however, it's hard to visually parse it - takes about 5 seconds to understand what it is. Other designs have used the infinity symbol, which is neat intellectually, but not sure if it really resonates or not. Having both a guy and a girl figure, though, is very interesting.
Re: #92. Right idea, but the details are a bit off to my eye. The waist is exaggeratedly small, and the lines don't flow quite right above and below the hoop.
Re: #90. Between 90 and 92, 90 is still stronger. Perhaps for the final push a variation of 90 would generate stronger results. I'm not sure the hula-hoop ring adds much - it might well be visually simpler and stronger to eliminate it (even though I know it was a major component of the design!) Making the figure more dynamic would help a lot - right now, the posture is fairly static, standing in place (albeit in an elegant pose). Making the figure either lean over the words a bit, or potentially even more dynamically looking like she's in mid-air leap would help a lot. I've noted that the strongest designs so far all share that dynamic movement aspect.
I like your sense of line, and hope you're up for another variation before the contest closes!
Haha, regarding leaping in mid air, I think the concept is already taken by the number 1 rated designer. However I will try to think of some other dynamic poses.
Your feedback is spectacular! Thank you for taking the time!
on dark back Wanted to also add that the fact the finish line is at the waist, a part we typically associate when we say thin (I do anyway). What do you think? :) (This comment references Entry #102)
Could you please darken up the background just a bit, but not nearly so much (and not vignetted so much) as #102? That will provide a more neutral comparison with the other designs - the current blue-green gradient isn't great (even though its close to our current website... gotta update that now that I've been looking more closely at it!)
As far as the actual content: The bright red finish tape needs to be better integrated into the overall color palette. It's too pure as-is at the moment.
The figure is beautiful, but I'm wondering if it would be even stronger if it were simplified and abstracted a bit more, much as you did on the original concept? That would also help make it a bit more asexual (although given your lines, it'll still be feminine, which is good!)
There's something off with the path she's running on. I'm thinking one of two things: either it doesn't need the lower line at all, or keep the lower line but make the path get skinnier instead of wider (even though that violates perspective.)
Really nice job! I'm going to be putting the top designs out for more opinions tonight for a final ranking.
Nice! Everything looks better. I'm thinking that *some* indication of hair - slightly feminizing the figure - is necessary. 84% of my market is women - I just don't want to make the guys immediately reject it.
Yup. Possibly too much, but that's getting to the nit level. I'm about to submit all the top designs to a wider audience and I don't think tweaking the hair any more than it is now would affect a decision as to whether or not this is the top pick or not - the overall design is going to either sell it or not.
I really like where you took this! It's a really strong design. It's going to be really hard to pick the winning entry... I wish I could take them all!
Anna - What a fantastic design! We struggled and struggled to make a final selection. The top entries were all about evenly split - many people loved this one. I hope leaving you in the #1 position all week long only to bump you from the top spot doesn't make you too mad - I know *I'd* be peeved, and I'm sorry things were so close. It was really difficult to decide. In the end, it was almost a toss-up, but thinking through how the logo would translate to an animated video intro made us put this in (a very close) 3rd.
Here's one quote: "I'm for A [your #108] because it shows how someone is crossing the finish line and winning over their Obesity and GETTING THIN FOREVER! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA alway here for me!"
I really appreciate your hard work to get the logo to where it ended up, it's a really strong design. Please don't erase the files: I'll be doing a series of products over the next couple of years in this same space, and this might be a perfect logo for one of those. I hope you'll enter future design contests we run. I really like your style - it's unique, distinctive and fresh.
