What We Do
Boutique Inn (lodging) in a rustic mountain community with many arts and nature attractions
Industry
Travel & Hospitality
Color Preferences
No bright colors or too wild. Open to any suggestions that convey nature, pine trees, bubbling creek (river) and a sophisticated but rustic natural setting.

Must be easily reproduced in pure B&W or minimal gray scale. Must NOT use too many gradients or color transitions.
Prefer easy to emboss / deboss

Max 4 colors, prefer 2 or less, not including negative space/ white.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
No 3D Effects please.

We are looking for an emblem or abstract mark that can convey the messages and what we offer to our target audience. Our business is an inn (hotel) located in a rustic mountain town that draws many tourists looking for nature or just to get away into nature. Nearby arts academy and galleries also draw the sophisticated crowd. Our property is:
1. only one in town that is large, sitting on over 6 acres, and we want to convey this somehow
2. only one that OWNS a private piece of the iconic Strawberry Creek on our property.
3. Close enough to town to walk in 20 minutes, but far enough off the highway to be quiet.

Please use existing logo only as reference. We want much much better. As new owners, we purchased the property and inherited the existing logo and (horrible) website which are very dated.

Hi ! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for designs ranked in the top 10. We like to earn points.

~~ NOTE: While in JUDGING mode, the designer ranked in 1st can still submit revisions.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

Thank you Masmett for kicking off the contest with such great concepts, very much in line with what we're looking for!

Looking forward to seeing more concepts and designs from all!

Wow, thank you everyone for joining so quickly and with such impressive designs, especially during this holiday season. This will be a tough contest for us to judge... I've run two before for our other businesses a few years back, but continue to be impressed with the caliber of artists and designers here.

Keep up the amazing submissions all!

Hi everyone, keep up the great work! A couple of general comments to steer everyone:

Please note that our cabins are not log cabins. Keep designs for the cabins in your work clean and simple lines.
Also, there is no boating or other water activities on the creek (too narrow), and no significant fishing.
Lastly, when representing the creek/river/water, no matter the style, please ensure that it does NOT look like a highway, which is undesirable in our community. Some of our competitors are on the highway, so when depicting creeks, it's important to have at least one or two curves and possibly a small/medium rock or two. Avoid lines running down the middle which could confuse the viewer into thinking that the cabins are adjoining a highway. If representing water / creek stylistically, you may choose to achieve this using a subtle s curve.

Thanks

One more general comment:
We strongly prefer one font for the text

Excellent idea Toni.

Full portfolio of photos indexed by google:
https://plus.google.com/+QuietCreek/photos

Our best representative photos are 1 & 14 for the cabins. For the creek, 3 and 10. Numbering is from left to right top to bottom on he google plus photos page.

Hope that helps!

For those of you that celebrate it, Merry Christmas everyone!

Thanks for all your hard work.

An additional general comment to anyone that has window panes in their artwork:
The next time you make a revision, please consider changing window shapes where possible if the design has 2 or 4 square window panes to two triangular window panes (that match the roof line) as in our google plus photo, see link below. If there is only one square window pane, please insert one triangle to match the roof line.

Here’s that URL
https://plus.google.com/+QuietCreek/photos
First photo, see windows on leftmost cabin. Two short triangles that match the roof line.

Good evening everyone!
We're down to the last wire and are anxious to see the final designs everyone has been working on. If you're submitting in the last few hours, please check this dialogue queue and comments on top 10 ranked designs for insights on what is working and what isn't.

We will be replying to submissions and ranking until the last hour or so, so keep chugging!

Thanks all, and bon chance!

Hi everyone.
Just finalizing rankings so things are bouncing around. Top 5 may move around still.

This is a VERY CLOSE contest, with many of you submitting outstanding work! It will be tough to choose, and we want to thank everyone who participated!

Hello everyone and congrats to our top 5 placing artists. This was a very tough contest to judge.

Feedback for everyone in this round:
We would like to see your designs in emblem concepts in varying shapes (ie circle, oval, badge, shield, and hexagon) per the original brief attachment. If you feel your designs can be reporesented in another shape (perhaps a hexagon or oval or shield?) please feel free to experiment with laying out same beautiful elements in another shap (for hexagon, see the 'Glacier' park badge in the attachment).

We have a few circles already and some unique shapes, and would like to see others.

Hi everyone, thank you for your patience as we finalized the winners. This was VERY VERY TOUGH for us to decide, as many of your contributions were outstanding.

Thank you all.
