Top Three Things to Communicate

#1 - National identity of host country, in this case the Republic of Serbia.
#2 - Consistent to the RLEF European Championship logo.
#3 - Recognisable as an RLEF tournament, for example, people recognise the FIFA world cup by the logo.

Our Target Audience:

Sports fans. Appeals to both sexes. European.

Color Preferences

RLEF colours: blue and gold (based on European Union's main colour scheme).
Serbian national colours: red, white and blue.

Our Ideas and Additional Information:

We are looking for a logo that will be changed every two years, for each edition of the Rugby League Under-19 European Championship. This logo is the first in the series. The logo should include the words "Rugby League Under-19 European Championship" and "Belgrade 2018".
There are two main concepts. If you look at the various FIFA world cup logos they are instantly recognisable as they retain the basic shape of the trophy. We want to retain recognisable elements of the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP logo and also, crucially, add elements that make it instantly identifiable as a Serbian logo (then in 2020, it will need to be French symbols etc etc). So, Serbian cultural patterns, some elements of the national flag or the country.

Good start to the design process. Really captured the essence of our base logo plus included both rugby and some Serbian characteristic. If we look at the last few FIFA world cup examples they are all really distinct and emblematic of the host, and that's what we're really looking for, a logo that illustrates, through font, colour, imagery, the host country of Serbia.

While the logos in the 'style inspiration' section are valid, the main thrust of the design should be to capture the essence of Serbia while retaining a recognisable element of the base logo I added.

On consultation with my Serbian colleagues, working the Serbian white eagle into the logo somehow might be good. Also, the wording should read SRBIJA 2018 not BELGRADE 2018.

Hello, All!

Just a quick note here, from someone whose first language is Serbian. What you have at the moment is mix of Russin cyrilic letters, latin letters and Serbian cyrilic letters,...it makes no sence and reads: Seabid 2018 (!???). You can spell this two ways: in English latin letters: SERBIA 2018, or Serbian cyrilic letters: СРБИЈА 2018. Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Bojan

Hi, thanks, we know, we were just trying to be a bit too clever but I don't think it works. We'll use Latin characters.
