PhotocoatLogo Design Contest

First of all, thank you very much for submitting your great work!
We are very happy to receive a design proposal so fast!

Here is our feedback after looking at your work:

1. Since there are a lot of logo with camera design, maybe it would be great if you can push more about our filter effects instead of camera (since our Facebook app is not about taking photos, but is about adding a filter to transform the look and feel of the users' photos).

2. Maybe more simple logo like Facebook's logo will be ideal; general and universally loves by lots of people. Since we are building a Facebook app, we want the logo to blend in with Facebook's simple design.

Since I am not a designer, it is difficult to describe what we are imagining, but we are looking forward to your update and upcoming works :D!

We are really happy to see that the logos are starting have a concept and a message that expresses Photocoat :)!

We would also like to see Wordmark logos that are more focusing on the typography.

Filter effects is a concept that adds a layer to photos to change the taste and the look.

*****General feedback for everyone*****

Please remember that we are asking to design a logo and an icon.
A logo will be on Facebook app, and an icon will be on our app's Facebook page (200x200).
The logo and the icon must look good with Facebook's design.

Also, please make our logo simple.
We prefer simplicity rather than complexity.
We don't want a logo that has a lot of stuff.
But that doesn't mean, we want a logo with just a good font and a color.
Just adding a color on font does not make a logo unique and creative.
(Because anyone can make a logo like that using Photoshop!)

"IMPORTANT"
We want a logo with a story and a message.
A simple logo with unique and creative ideas.
Be creative, and express an idea that only you can come up with.

Less than 24 hours left, and we must decide the top 5 logos, so please submit your masterpiece for our logo!

Here are some general feedbacks for all designers.
(Since the contest doesn't have that much time left, I will also send you personal messages.)

"Don't Use Camera"
I have said this few times, but please don't focus on "camera" design.
Photocoat is not a application to take photos and it is not intended to take photos.
Photocoat is a application to add "filter effects" to photos taken by camera.
So please don't use camera for our logo and/or icon, and focus on filter effects.

"Design Logo and Icon"
Photocoat is a Facebook app, so we need:
1. Logo for the Facebook App itself (The logo should focus on fonts and typography.)
2. Icon for Photocoat's Facebook Page (The shape of icon must be squarish like #129/#131 and the size must be at least 200x200).

Again, logo and icon a separate thing, and we will use them separately.
Don't design so that logo relies on icon's design, and icon relies on logo's design.

We will most like not use your logo and your icon together on same page,
because logo will be used on Facebook app, and icon will be used on Facebook Page.
So please make sure each component will not rely on each other and each one will look great individually.

The contest progress changed from "Open" to "Top 5", so we have updated our ranking!

Here is our general feedback for everyone:

Our investors suggested few things regarding logo and icon design.
Since Photocoat will be targeting millions users of 8 billion on Facebook,
we want our logo (identity) to be loved by millions of users.
In other words, if the logo is gaudy and flashy, only 10% will like our logo.
On the other hand, if the logo is minimal and simple, 90% will like our logo.

Here is further details of a logo and an icon we want:

1) Minimality and Simplicity
Please keep our logo minimal and simple, not complex!
If you design a complex logo, our story and our message will get fuzzy.
Keep it minimal and simple.

Please look at the site below for examples of minimal logos:

As you can see in the website above, their logos are very minimal and simple.
But at same time, has a lot of creativity and idea hidden!

2) Colors
Please use only 1 or 2 colors.
We are seeing logos using red, yellow, green, and blue, but that looks like Microsoft!
Please use color wisely!

3) Fonts and Typography
Please don't just use Helvetica.
Anyone can make a typographic logo like that.
Please be creative with fonts and typography!

Please look at the website below to learn about how Facebook's logo was created.

As you can see, Facebook's logo is all about typography.
Please focus 90% of your design on typography.
Ultimately, typography will affect how the logo will look.

4) Icon

We are also asking everyone to include an icon for Photocoat.
Please design a minimal icon with a lot of expression about "filter effect".
We have no rules regarding designing an icon, so please be creative freely!
But please remember that the icon will be "the face" of Photocoat's Facebook Page,
so please make sure the icon will look very good in Facebook Page!

Since we are seeing similar fonts from everyone,
we want to see more of unique and interesting typography,
so we will have more options to choose from!

Don't make our logo fancy and gaudy, but just make it simple but unique!

We want more variation on typography, so please show us a lot of options for fonts/typography!
Don't just use Helvetica or normal fonts, we want simple but with uniqueness!

"Icon"
For an icon, please don't make the motif or the concept "P".
We want the icon to NOT be typographic, so please make the concept more focused on "photos" or "filter effects".
Please don't use "P" in our icon!
