Our Ideas & Additional Information
Willing to entertain both abstract and literal ideas for our company's new logo. We are leaders in the A/E/C industry in terms of sustainable design, and energy-efficient engineering. We are celebrating our 20th anniversary this year, but obviously soon we'll be "21," so focusing the logo on that might not be a good idea for long-term use. We want something that is simple and yet powerful - and will be flexible enough to adapt to a variety of uses. Our existing logo is attached, for reference purposes. Our website is www.optimapa.com (soon to be www.optimaengineering.com).

Discussion

Just as a general comment to all designers: Based on something we should have mentioned in the initial briefing, and from the early results that we see coming in, please do not feel that we are "tied" to still using the same fonts in the existing logo. (We don't hate that font, but we would not object to seeing new/different fonts too). Thanks!

Logo Designer
Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ You, the Client, are very important! Your active participation is the single greatest factor influencing this contest. Active participation by you, the Client, helps you get the logo design you want!
~~ What's active participation? It's updating the brief with more information for Designers to work with as the contest progresses, providing feedback to Designers on their entries when they're submitted, and ranking designs at least once a day.
~~ When you provide feedback to Designers, you increase the chances of getting the logo you want. More feedback = better results!
~~ Leave private feedback by clicking on a design. Feedback will be made public upon contest completion.
~~ Rank designs at least once each day -- this will encourage Designers to submit more entries!
~~ Ranking prevents your contest from going idle! Active contests attract more Designers.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed. Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Please note: if you're asking for a design that will require several hours to create, to attract Designers willing to invest that amount of time the prize should be at least $400-$500. All "Character" style logos fall into this category.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested." We'd like to know what you don't want so we can give you the design you do want.
~~ The first phase of the contest is the "Open" phase, and everyone can submit during that time.
~~ After your contest's initial "Open" phase closes, it will enter the "Top 5" phase; only the top 5 ranked Designers will be able to submit revisions at that time.
~~ The "Top 5" Designers are the first 5 Designers in a contest, not the first 5 designs.
~~ When "Top 5" ends, the "Judging" phase begins. The Designer of the 1st place design will be the only Designer who can submit revisions at that time.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

Some really interesting initial work and definitely some nuggets of cool ideas! Thanks for all of your efforts!! Who can throw something REALLY different but clever at us??

Also we are definitely liking the orange and black, but maybe a bit more subtle shade of orange. And we're not opposed to other colors too, as long as they're not the ones we specifically banned. Would like to try to stay with a max 1 or 2 colors + black logo though.

And if you really want to get our attention, make sure your logos allow for easy / interesting placement of our slogan tag line!

Logos should be on a solid white background (or feel free to try solid black if you think you can pull it off and there will be a way for us to reproduce it on construction drawing sheets, marketing collateral, t-shirts, business cards, etc.)

We're liking the orange stuff more than maroon! Great ideas and design work so far!! Thank you all!!!!

Great looking stuff - would love to see someone be "bold" and do something with a letter (or letters) themselves, so that just the word Optima ITSELF becomes the artwork AND logo, all-in-one. Same color schemes that are showing up here are great (the blacks, grays, accented with maroon, orange or the dark blue that has shown up a couple of times).

This keeps getting better and better! You are ALL amazing designers and making this a very difficult challenge for us!! Just as a general FYI - after this logo contest, we are going to be seeking a web designer to revamp our current website, if anyone happens to have an interest / credentials in that type of work.

You guys are making this extraordinarily TOUGH with some incredible work. Thank you all for your efforts. Regarding our frequent updating of the ranking, now that we are getting close to the Top 5 date (well, still a couple of days to go), we are going to keep the designers we are most interested in at any given point "hovering" in the Top 10 to 15 spots. If you see yourself (or ANY of your designs up there), know that you are still very much "in the running." Some of you have multiple entries...we may correspond with you individually about some of them, but if we don't always get around to that, don't worry if one of your entries is, for instance, 4th, and one is 47th...we're just keeping one "example" of you in that top 10 to 15 so you know you're still in serious contention. Make sense? We welcome any general questions or feedback. We hope we're not being TOO communicative but you guys are making this very exciting!

To all designers amongst the Top 5 (and the next few too):

We are currently reviewing all final designs "as they are" (so please don't feel the need or obligation to revise any further at this point). Given the enormous variables in play here, across so many good designs and choices, we need a little time to consider all the angles. Our committee will be making a decision as to which logo we will select as "the winner" by about 9:00 or 10:00 AM Eastern time tomorrow morning (Monday). Please stay tuned and don't be alarmed if we are silent for the rest of the day today - you've already given us a great deal of excellent work to consider and choose between!! Thank you again!!

Thank you ALL very, very much for your incredible, hard work and amazing entries. You've made this process incredibly difficult to select a winner (and that's a good thing, in a lot of ways!) and we sincerely appreciate the thought and ideas you each put into this. Great work, all around - we wish we could select 9 or 10 winners!!
