Just to be clear, isn't there an exception if I own the mark for an image or photo - a designer can vectorize it and modify it, right?

We don't sell other people property here at LT.... it's about standards in80. How is that hard for you to understand?

Has nothing to do with copyright, LT can set their own requirements.

Ok, amidst the fighting, can someone seriously tell me the rule regarding soliciting designers for the entire series prior to an auction closing? I don't want any more rules violated. I just want a logo!

I don't know why you posted this to me here. I did not challenge anything being said. I think you maybe directed this to the wrong person. I didn't pick any fight on this public forum. If you want a fight, I'm happy to bring it but I was trying to tone down the rhetoric. My only outstanding inquiry is:

1. Regarding pre-negotiation for a series of designs from an individual artist. There is one on the board now that I would like to approach.
2. I wanted a clarification to your statement that there are NO EXCEPTIONS to the rule that you can't vectorize existing art. There is, in fact, an exception isn't there? I refer you to your Morton Salt contest as a really good example... Are there any other exceptions?

This whole thing has gotten way out of control.

I'm not picking a fight, but now Scave has been asked to withdraw....again? Can someone (nicely) explain to me what the problem was. I thought the issue with akronix was resolved? Please let me know (by private message if necessary). Thanks,

Can someone tell me how to PM Tyler. I want to stick up for Scave's design. It is not a copy. A slice of Pizza is not a ripoff. The beer mug is not a ripoff. Red is not a ripoff (most of you used it) Mostly, the ND is not a rip off. First of all ND is a play on the word INDY or INDEPENDENT which refers to a non-chain restaurant. I asked for some logos to include the ND concept. His design used a very different font for the N and D (using a capital D rather than akronix's lowercase). Scave deserves some ribbon in this contest for a good logo. Akronix worked his arse off too and I hate that he withdrew. Thanks!

Eastcoast - I'm sorry, but that is an exception to the rule:

"NO TRACING OR VECTORIZATION OF EXISTING CLIPART OR PHOTOGRAPHY (UNLESS YOU TOOK THE PICTURE)"

I agree that it is a good exception, but it is an exception. The designers took existing art and vectorized it didn't they? How can you possibly claim this is not a literal violation of the rule stated above?

Can you tell me where to find the rule that allows designers to use art that a client owns? What sort of diligence must the artists go through to insure that we (the clients), in fact, own the rights?

Or did you not really mean to pick a fight with me?

Hello pcuezze, I will not get into what has happened here... but I will say this is the only time I have ever seen so many issues arise in a contest. Sorry you have had such a bad experience, but I think it will only be good from here on out.

I just want to say that Lindsey brought your contest to the attention of some of us in the forums, and I will be submitting some logos for your consideration later this evening. Hopefully other designers will follow suit. I will do my best to help you get your money's worth here.

Ok. Sorry I've been so grouchy guys but the entries are all very good. I'm satisfied with the entries themselves. I've just left comments for about everyone and will rank later tonight. Generically, it will assist me if you have a multi-color design, to show it in b&w and grayscale. I may do some production on a laser printer for certain things and this would be important.

If you have a problem with someone's entries I would GREATLY appreciate being notified as well. I don't want to rank (again) only to find out there is some controversy over a design I like. Please air your grievances now as a favor to me.

sorry for all this all the top designers on LT will submit logos for your contest now best of luck as a designer the money we get here on LT is not a lot for the time we put in we are here mainly because we love to design.
