What We Do
Camp Sacajawea is a day camp for girls operated by the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore. It provides fun outdoor activities for girls ages 4-15. As part of the winning bid, we will ask the chosen designer to help us with a second iteration for Camp Amity Acres. We expect the needed revisions for the second logo to be minimal and will provide specific guidance for that look.

#6 , #5 - We like the trees and water and girls having a good time. We don't really like the idea of some of the text being all caps. We'd probably prefer regular title case, but something all-caps might work in certain circumstances.

The shape is the biggest hurdle for this one. Girl Scouts love collecting patches for their vests/uniforms. The shape makes this look like a patch for camp that we'd sell for one year as opposed to a logo that we plan to use for many years to come.

#7 - We like the background elements, the trees and sun and birds. Can the tent be downplayed? We don't mind having a tent, but because we're not an overnight camp, the tent aspect is of somewhat less importance.

#1 - The four boxes with the icons inside are nice. The difference in width between the boxes at the top and the name at the bottom might be problematic. Can it be made less wide, either with the camp name in two lines underneath or next to the icons instead. I'm imagining gift items where there's a limited space to put a logo and as a result the width would force the top element to be smaller than would be desired.

#4 - Like this style but not necessarily the design. Have to think about it a bit. It feels more sport-like (soccer, teamwork, etc) than a camp logo. Can you do something with it to make it more nature/camp like? Sorry this note isn't more helpful. If I can think of a better way to put it in words I'll add another comment.

Note: This contest is for ONE logo (Camp Sacajawea) but the CH is requiring that, for the prize amount, the winner be willing to make the minor alterations after the contest to make a second logo. The name would change and perhaps minor image alterations would be involved.

If you enter this contest you agree to make these alterations.

#9, just for variation can you show the same logo but with one large box instead of the four small?

#9, #10 Both of these, I think, are solid logos. One of the features of our camp that is a differentiator compared to our competition is that our camps are for girls only. I'm not sure if that's coming across strong enough. Is there anything that can be done to stress that aspect. I'd like to show what you've done already, plus a more girl-centric alternative as well.

#11 - I like the changes that you made. It feels like it might be a bit too green. Are there additional colors you can insert into the design to break it up a bit. Also, can you think of any way to reflect our "girls-only" environment. Maybe one logo with just the color change and one with any girl-centric ideas you may have.

Hello all. Thank you for all your hard work so far. I've placed some tentative rankings, just to help me review the submissions so far. While I'm the coordinator for the contest and the designer who will be using your work in upcoming projects, those directly involved in operating the camps will have a large say as well. I expect these rankings to change at some point Monday after I have time to consult with them for their feedback. Any revisions you can make based on the feedback I've given for your designs or others would be greatly appreciated.

The main comment I would make at this point is that I don't think the "girl" aspect is clear in many of the logos. We don't want a logo that's too feminine or girly, but being a camp that's girls only (and affiliated with the Girl Scouts) is something we don't want to ignore. I also understand that the end result of that path may be something too literal, but at this point I think we need to see that in order to understand the range of options available.

Logo #34 seems to be the best of the example logos. My concerns are:

- the heart over the "j": While younger girls will like this, older girls will feel it is childish and boys will not want to wear the Camp Sacajawea t-shirt

- the coloring in the boxes: While it looks nice, it limits the color choices of t-shirts to campers and staff. Is there going to be some sort of outline on the boxes to make it look finished if printing on a shirt that has the same color as one of the boxes? The only colors right now that work right now are yellow or white, both of which are not quite practical in a camp where there is dirt.

Hello everyone. Thank you for your hard work. I think we're very close.

As you can tell, the contest has been extended. We have a meeting scheduled for Thursday morning where we're going to present your work to our larger group. We wanted to leave the window for changes open to incorporate that. Our hope and expectation is to close the contest on Friday after a final review of any revisions suggested by the group.

Hello everyone. My meeting today went very well. Everyone was impressed with all your work.

Two items came out of the meeting. First, for branding purposes and to distinguish our facility rental operations from camp, the decision was made to tweak the camp name to be Sacajawea Day Camp. If you're doing revisions, please use the new name.

Also, being an organization for girls, a request was made that we present a variety of the designs to girls at programs this weekend to get their feedback. That will push the final lock down of the winner until Monday when we see their comments, but if designs could be wrapped up by tomorrow (Friday) that would be appreciated.

Thank you everyone for submitting. I've been playing phone tag all day with the person I need to speak with to select a winner. As soon as we know, I promise you'll know.
