Slogan
Racer's Fuel of Choice
What We Do
We sell small batch roasted organic coffee to Racing and Car enthusiasts.
Industry
Automotive
Color Preferences
We would like a logo which embraces the passion for motor racing and race tracks. Race cars are normally in racy colors such as red, yellow etc. with contrasting white, red or other color stripes.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
We are looking to portray a quality image which incorporates a race track theme along with race cars. This doesn't mean it has to have a car or track in the logo.
Ideas could range from classic car posters for classic races such as Monaco F1 to perhaps such storied brands as Ferrari, Bugatti. Or perhaps a checker flag theme and incorporating a road course.

Key element is not to make it with a bunch of beveled text, shadows etc. as it will be used on T-Shirts, decals, website, coffee bags etc.

This logo will be primarily used on a coffee bag label so we need to ensure that the slogan is readable. when the logo is as small as 2 3/4" wide. The label overall size is 2 3/4" wide by 4" tall. When I print these labels I would need the logo, blend presentation image, blend descriptor as well as our company contact info.

Logo should include our URL www.tracksidecoffee.com
We would have the following blends:
Garage Day Blend : smooth and drinkable all day long while you are kicking around working in the garage
Track Day Blend: Bolder blend to keep you going throughout the driving sessions
Race Day Blend: Strong Bold blend to keep you focused and kick some butt on the track
High-Test Espresso: For when you need that extra kick!
Rally Blend (Roasters Choice): Just as a rally driver has to trust their co-driver you have to trust the master roaster to give you the best blend.

Ideally the finished execution would consist of:
1. A logo which can be used as the umbrella brand identifier. This would need to convey to the auto enthusiast that there is a link between the coffee and the Automotive passion. This would need to convey the vintage feel that I am looking for. It would need to be adaptable to use on the labels as mentioned above, T-Shirts etc. At a minimum it would need the URL and slogan along with the name.

Hi everyone, Please note that we need the URL showsn. It doesn't have to be a part of the actual logo but can be below it. It needs to be a part of the final creative though so don't forget it.

Still looking for more ideas...

To help this along I should proved more information. We will have several blends that would live under this umbrella logo.

Hi everyone, I continue to be impressed by the creativity of these submissions. Although I definately like these submissions and could be happy picking one I am still not seeing anything that harkens back to the vintage racing posters. do a search on Google for "bugatti posters" or "Monaco F1 posters", "vintage Ferrari auto posters", "vintage auto posters".

I am not saying that's the only solution but I would like to see something like that to get a good variety here. I am also open to blue's etc. Think classic, speed, motion, elegance...I want this to be a logo that customers want to wear on a t-shirt.

Thanks everyone for your submissions. I really appreciate them even if they aren't quite what I am looking for. Please keep them coming!

Hi everyone, some of you have incorporated the "organic" aspect. I feel that this is an important part. It is not critical though as we can attach the official organic sticker to the package. However, if we are putting the logo on a shirt or something it would be a positive.

Also the 10% donation to charity is a positive.

Having said that I do not want that to detract from the overall presentation. It's a nice to have versus a requirement.

Hello everyone, I am so excited about all of the submissions and how great they are. You all are coming up with angles that I would never have considered. You are all very creative. I know you do this for a living so I am probably stating the obvious but I just wanted to let you know that even if I say I am not interested I still appreciate the designs very much and am very happy with them. It's really hard for me to rank these.

What I found very helpful in this last round was including more inspirational designs as well as providing me with executions which incorporated the 5 different blends that I will be distributing.

Thanks!!!

Are your company certified for the 'Fair Trade' or 'organic' branding? i.e. can we use any special label for this or should we just incorporate the wording?

Are you associated with any particular organization of "worthy causes" that we can use in the image?

Just so that we can take size/layout in consideration.

Hi everyone. All of these great submissions is really forcing me to thinks things through as to how we execute our brand.

Ideally the finished execution would consist of:
1. A logo which can be used as the umbrella brand identifier. This would need to convey to the auto enthusiast that there is a link between the coffee and the Automotive passion. This would need to convey the vintage feel that I am looking for. This is why #16 is stilled ranked as #1. I think there is still room for improvement in regards to the vintage poster feel here. However, it is close. This would be mainly a texted logo rather than a flowing automotive image.
2. We need individual executions which are tailored to each of the blends. This would be incorporate the logo as well as have the inspirational image associated to it.

A lot of the executions go one way or the other at this point. There hasn't been one person that has put it all together.

I've moved Akerman's designs that were nearly identical executions of findyoursupercar.com

I don't have the time to police these submissions so I hope that you all bring originality to the contest. The last thing i want is to have a customer bring to my attention when I go live with the logo that it is the same as another execution.

Just to be clear/fair, akerman wasn't using an already chosen winning design for another company, and then putting the same design in your contest.

Both contests were going on at the same time, it's just that one contest happened to end first and that design was suddenly chosen as the winner (while the other contest, your Trackside Coffee contestm was still going on).

Unfortunately, designers will sometimes reuse their own work. If it doesn't work for one client, maybe it will work for another, etc.

I just happened to notice it because I has submitted designs in both contests.

'Go North' is partly correct. We are allowed to reuse our own work, as long as it is not sold to a client.

And yes, the shield shape is identical to the one found in another contest, but that's it. All other elements are different: Font, colour and additional shapes. AND that customer bought and paid for a fancy metallic Photoshop design in EPS that is impossible to do in vector format. Not the flat Illustrator vector file.

So the philosophical conclusion from the reasoning that a shape can't be reused, effectively rules out all squares, rectangles, circle's ovals and what have you, since they've been used before? Boy, that would render us with very little shapes in the future :-)

CH was considerate to remove these for me here. Thanks. I would have done that myself, but I had to await approval/payment from the customer first. Just because you win, doesn't necessarily mean that everything is kosher with the business side. Until then, it is the designers property.

Regards
Akerman

Are we making a magazine cover here or a logo?

:-)

Well, valid question. However it's the CH that decides complexity and best understand the are of use for the 'logo'.

Normally a logo is very simple and personally I'm a bit old school (50-60's style) rather than WEB 2.0 or complex images, but I've seen all kinds of requests here at LT, so welcome to join us in the logo/poster/cover/product package making! ;-)

Hi everyone. I know this will probably frustrate some of you but I have been too busy to provide feedback to all the entries. As such I have chosen to extend the contest for 5 days to allow myself the time to accurately provide feedback where needed as well as rank them.

I apologize in advance to anyone that this may frustrate but I feel that it is the fair thing to do to those that have asked for feedback but I have not been able to give them that.

Hi everyone. Again, I want to thank everyone for the great work. I understand that there may be some confusion as to what I am looking for. Logo vs. poster or whatever.

The challenge for me is that I need a basic logo which I can use on the website which is simple in execution and speaks to the overall idea of an automotive, racing enthusiast oriented coffee brand. In addition to this I have the need for executions which represent the individual blends that we will be selling on the website. These will be shipped in 1lb bags. and have a label on them which is 2 3/4" x 4". These labels need to ideally have the logo, an image which speaks to the individual blend in a romantic way, as well as our company info below that.

I would additionally like to use these representations on t-shirts, coffee mugs, decals etc.

Please read the comments I have made on individual submissions which are highly ranked. I have tried to include what they are doing right (or wrong) there. Or, contact me directly for additional information if you still have questions.

Right now the number 1 ranked submission does the best job of covering all bases. I can use it on the website, I can use it on the coffee bag as well as have it on a t-shirt or coffee mug as an aspirational image.

trackside you speak of a "basic logo which is simple in execution" yet all your top favorites are from from basic or simple. In fact, most of them do remind more of vintage posters, if that is what you like then ok, but they are definitely neither basic nor simple (sorry to repeat myself)

I can see alot of clipart use in this contest, those who are aware of using clipart elements, i'd recommend to withdraw before we find those out and remove them down.

Also, everyone is reminded to keep this area for discussion regarding designs only and brief, nothing else.

Hi everyone, in the last hours of this contest the moderators have chosen to inform via removal (no discussion with me) that my preferred designs are not allowed.

I have sent a message to Dazzle expressing my frustration that this should have been done much earlier in the contest rather than the last hours. Obviously that means that a lot of effort has been expended on all parties sides which are for naught.

I hope to get an answer that will resolve the situation soon.

My apologies to everyone in advance. I looked to this site to be more engaged in policing the contests. I am not pleased.

Based on some of you violating the submission rules that you are already aware of and shouldn't have done that and the problems caused towards the ending of this contest after its 2nd extension, a note has been made to possibly extend this contest for another 5 days upon CH request.

I will be getting back to you soon regarding that after i get a reply from the admin for that extension.

In the time being, please make sure you abide by the site rules, regarding the submission, also make sure your work is original without using any element ( cars ) or any other element that is not of your own creation and is a clipart or from istock.

Thanks,

Kareem

macgui,

can you direct me to the right direction here? coz I'm a bit lost when you say that my logo is from google?
post here the exact link where my logo appears to settle things up.
Because as far as I know I drawn this logo using a pencil and paper without looking at any reference at all. These are based on my immagination and own concept. as you can see mine is very unique amongst all I have no cars involved on my logo. If ever in any way or form did I or my logo be a part of the link that you will post here I will glandly accept it and remove my logo emmediateley.

@dazzle as MOD, why i can't submit new entries again? As i know this contest extended for days again, but there is no "submit entry" again beside contest brief. Also it looks in contest status in my account appear "judging" not accepting entries anymore.

It's fixed now, everyone can upload or re-upload old entries, make sure you submit according to submission rules and no use of any clipart / istock element too.

I have no idea what any of you are doing , we give this customer over 500 entries in a $300.00 contest?????
and to make things worst he extends the contest, entries that may look like posters get eliminated ( mine # 57 ) because he has asked for vintage poster design for his logo and/or labels, and someone dumps my art.
My work is all vector and takes some time ( a lot ) maybe read what the customer wants before eliminating it from the contest!
Who decides what a logo for their company should be anyhow ?
probably should be the customer!
and probably at the end of the original time limit, extensions are a joke why even have a time limit!

Why did additional entries get removed after the initial review? This doesn't seem fair.

Advantage 53 - I understand your frustration. I am confused by this latest round of removals as well.

HEY MODZ PPA DAZ where is the background thing here?

Submission rules:•NO CLIPART (ISTOCKPHOTO, SHUTTERSTOCK, ETC.) EVEN IF YOU OWN THE RIGHTS.
•NO TRACING OR VECTORIZATION OF EXISTING CLIPART OR PHOTOGRAPHY (UNLESS YOU TOOK THE PICTURE)
•350x280 pixels or (width/height ratio of 1.25:1) in JPG, PNG, or GIF format
•Only one variation per upload (example: if you want to show a logo in red, blue, and yellow. You would create and upload 3 separate files)
•No designer firm watermarks
•Neatly centered both horizontally and vertically with spacing all around. (No ugly oversized logos that hit the edges, negative space is a designer's friend!)
•No Borders - we are building a clean and consistent community portfolio.
•Your work must be created in a vector program such as Adobe Illustrator, and the final files MUST be delivered in .EPS format. Photoshop is not for logos and.
