Thanks to everyone for your entries! #2 has a lot of potential but I'd like to see a similar version of that concept using different fonts and perhaps more stars and/or more color in the box. I like #5 a lot but would like to see another version that's more high-color and maybe has a different star at the top. I'd like for the logo to be vibrant in colors, and yet a logo that will work fine in black and white versions too. #3 and #4 are really great. I like the starry S and the colors used. Would like to see other variations on those logos that would have a different look rather than just small icon + text all in a straight line. Overall I'd like to see some emblem, word mark, and stronger pictoral mark entries. I adjusted my style sliders section so perhaps that will help give a better idea of what I'm looking for. Thanks again.

#12 is very cool. I like it a lot because it's simplistic but yet pretty dynamic as well. Would love to see another version of that with a few more colors - maybe some reds, yellows, and greens added somehow to that starry filmstrip image. #14 is a really neat concept but I think the text is too small and I'd like to see more variation within the stars. Like #13 as well. I appreciate the addition of the purple to that logo but would be interested to see how that looks with even more colors mixed in somehow (reds, yellows, and greens). #6 is suddenly growing on me, after I had discarded it at first. I think the image is a little too abstract in a way - if it had a more starry night sky dimension to it somehow I think it could possibly work. I like the multi-colors worked in to #8, but overall I think the logo is too simplistic and I'm not crazy about the separation of the words star and scape. One thing I would like to see regarding the words Starscape is for the tracking on the "scape part" to be wider than that of the "star part," so that it gives the illusion of scape meaning wide/panoramic.

It might be helpful to check out our website: www.starscapemedia.com -- from there you can see that we need a dynamic, colorful logo that will "pop out" on the current black/purple/blue background and be a standout logo in general. Our current logo is bold and colorful but just doesn't have the polish and overall look that I'm wanting to find. I really want an image/emblem/word mark or pictoral mark that is strong enough to stand alone and speak for the company all by itself. Something 3D might do the trick. Think "more about the image, less about the words," unless it's a word mark, of course.

I'd really like for the logo to be nicely contained - so that it fits well "image/words/and all" in a square box. This doesn't mean it has to necessarily be square - I think it just needs to be "containable."

Hello C,

Please take a moment to review the "Ranking and General Tips" compiled by one of our designers (Bugy) https://logotournament.com/forum/general_discussion/914. Also, Please consider ranking the designs rather than eliminating the points we gather are valuable even if we do not win your contest.

#s 13, 14, 15 I'm not crazy about that color purple. The deeper purple used in #12 and #3 is more preferred. But more color/added colors in general is ultimately preferred - as the logo needs to stand out on current blue/black/purple website background.

Right now #12 is my favorite because it has a depiction of the night sky/starfield worked in to the logo. I definitely want that feeling - the drifting in space/going through a starfield - feeling conveyed more somehow. Still need to see a lot more color - blue & purple are the base colors for the company but the purple is a deeper purple than that used in #13 and a lot of the other entries. AND - please note that the website (www.starscapemedia) has a black/blue/purple background - so the logo needs to include a variation of other colors (perhaps pink/magenta, yellow, oranges, greens, light blues) so that it will stand out and pop off that background. At the same time I guess it needs to also be reproduceable in black & white as well. To add to what I posted earlier about wanting the logo to be containable - I meant that if an image is used the logo (be it square or not) it should fit inside a square box without much wasted space. Make sense?

Thanks Scott,

I was glad to become aware of that info. From now on I will try to rank all the designs rather than eliminate them. I understand that not ranking one designer in the end with all the top spots is also important and I will work to do that as well, so as many designers as possible who contributed will get points. Thanks to everyone for your hard work! You all are great!

#24 has the right idea in terms of proportions of image/emblem and text. I like the way the logo is contained in that box, with the text down below. However, the stars in that particular logo do not appeal to me at all. I'm looking for something with a more realistic night sky feel. Here's a link to a really old logo that we used in the past. This old logo itself is pretty bad - but I loved the image of the sky with the city/town down below. To recreate something of this effect and put a new spin on it might be really cool. Just need something more realistic - with an actual starfield/night sky. It should have a cosmic feel but not an overly cosmic feel, if that makes sense. No space age stuff - just a panoramic sky feel.

Old logo link:

Color wise, I'm glad to start seeing some color but in general the color needs to accent the logo rather than overwhelm it. I'm not looking for a rainbow look - but just some color to spice up/enhance the logo. Some of the colors seen so far are too neon. Think mostly primary colors - with a little glimmer.

#38 is touching on the overall night sky above the town/city look well, but I'd like to see that kind of logo look more dynamic and with some color flair mixed in somehow. right now it looks too much like the background for our website (www.starscapemedia.com). I really want the logo to standout on the website and in general.
Also, in reference to that particular logo I'm not crazy about the weird shadow in the sky or the Starscape Media text treatment.

My top-ranked logos are starting to be more contained, which is good - I like the upright rectangles but might also like to see something with perhaps a widescreen video look.

I like the dimension that #31 has a lot. It stands out and has some glimmer to it, which is really nice. Would like to see a starfield that's a little more realistic within that logo box though. Not sure how I feel about the bold frame around the box. In a way I like it but it might be nice to see something a little thinner as well. Would also like to see a bit more color worked in to that logo.

#37 could be on the right track - it if had a starry sky built into the star emblem somehow, a little more color, and a little more 3D feel.

It would be cool if the leading is wider between the letters in scape - indicating that scape means vastness. Logo should depict the vastness of the night sky in general.

#39 is getting closer to being what I'm looking for in terms of night sky + a splash of color. Not sure how I feel about the film strip encasement of the logo. In a way it's kind of neat but I think it looks a little too simplistic and I'm not sure about the purple at the bottom of the film strip, or about the font that was used. I think I prefer the font you used in other entries to that one. In general this is hitting on what I'm looking for - only would like to see a more dynamic overall logo with something more substantial going on in the sky.

At this point my ideal logo vision would be somewhat of a concoction of #43, #39, and #31. Here's what I would take from each of those entries:

Love the colored sky in #43. Not a fan of the text treatment at all though.

Kinda like the wispy comets in #39, but I think they could be scaled down a bit in size and maybe undergo a slight color change to fit in with other bolder colors. A few other little night sky elements would add a lot too I think.

Love the 3D appeal and shimmer that #31 has.

I really like the direction that #55 #51 and #59 are going in. I like city/country down-to-earth yet reaching for the stars/the sky's the limit feel that they have. The logo is dynamic and yet relatively simple. Bold colors are worked in.

Still not completely sold on the emblem concept though, as I'm concerned that it's not going to work well in all formats. I prefer a concise, contained emblem but realize that there are times when a wider logo works better (on the web, etc.) and is more flexible.

I'm also not completely sold on using a filmstrip within the logo.

I'd like to see some word mark entries with the Starscape Media name that maybe include a very simple image of someone reaching for the stars. Maybe something just black and white.

OK, thanks to everyone for their submissions! This whole process is a bit overwhelming for me, and I'd say it can be that way for you too!

I've really liked A LOT of the logos that I've received so far, but at the same time there are some areas that I'd like to see any new submissions develop in before the contest is over.

Here's what I can note in general, (this post is directed to everyone and in reference toward new logos that are yet to be created, not specifically to any one designer or in reference to logos that have already been posted)...

- I've been wanting and striving for an emblem logo but I'm beginning to realize that perhaps really what I need is a more traditional horizontal text-based logo with a strong but relatively simple image accent that still achieves the overall feel of what I've been after within an emblem image

Which is:

- I'd like for the logo image to somehow relay a person reaching into the night sky. For the most part, the people image submissions I have just not seemed to fit quite yet. The person should be whimsical but realistic.

- An example of a popular logo that I've seen recently that I like is the Dream Works logo. I'm not looking for an exact replica of that logo, I want something that's original, and perhaps more modern, but I do like the way the image in that logo is a person that stands alone and works with the logo text.

- I'm not set on having text just like the Dream Works logo. I'd like for the text in my logo to be strong but at the same time be fairly simple, modern, and chic

- It would be really cool if the text in the word scape would somehow visually indicate that scape means vast, or panoramic. Perhaps the kerning between the letters in the word scape could be widened to stretch out that last word, if that works. I'm not sure that it will, but I'd be thrilled if it did.

- I'm really not a huge fan of incorporating film strips in the logo. A lot of the submissions I have received have included them, and I have been trying to process over the last several days whether I like them or not, and at this point I think I have decided that, in general, I'm not a huge fan of them.
Some of the logos that are high on my list right now include them, and they seem to work well at times, but, in general, I'm not sold on whether I really want a film strip in the logo.

- I'm not into really simple stars scattered around the logo - if they are not part of the night sky.

- I'm not into really really cosmic/space age logos or fonts

I hope this helps. Thanks again for your interest in and your submissions to this contest!

So far no one has really paid attention to this thought that I had previously posted, so I'm reposting in hopes that it will stand out more:

It would be really cool if the text in the word scape would somehow visually indicate that scape means vast, or panoramic. Perhaps the kerning between the letters in the word scape could be widened to stretch out that last word, if that works. I'm not sure that it will, but I'd be thrilled if it did.

I'd like to see some cool wordmark logos that focus on the words Starscape Media. An icon that then somehow fits in the with the text and the theme would top it all off.

Thanks for your entries!
