Color Preferences
Colors need to be natural earth tones: browns, greens, aquatic blue tones, yellows, whites, etc. Bright colors are ok, but they should not be glaring. This image will be used digitally as well as on business cards and letterheads.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
The logo needs to have a mountain silhouette in the background in shades of brown. A river in some shade of blue should come down out of those mountains, widening as it reaches the foreground and then flowing to the right of the image. A hawk or eagle should be seen flying above the foreground water, holding a black ink bottle in its talons. The hawk or eagle should have a tribal, rough or abstract look to it. Google "tribal hawk" or "tribal eagle" to get an idea what I'm thinking there. The ink bottle should spill out a random scattering of black letters that fall about halfway to the water below. A green shaded area should flank the river on both sides and blend into the foot of the mountains to indicate a meadow or grassland area. Letters spilling from the ink bottle should be in Times New Roman, Courier, or other simple block type font. Under the image, the text "Sevenmile Creek Enterprises". I'm not sure on the font for this text, but I'm thinking wide but skinny block letters that look business-like and are easy to read.

Discussion

Ok, guys, now that we're in the judging phase, I have updated rankings to reflect my favorites from each designer. I also organized it so that I could get as many different designers in the top 5 as possible, to give you all a chance to submit revisions. There are some awesome designs in here and it will be difficult to choose.
I'm confused by one thing though. Some of you have submitted a few variations of the same logo. I've been told by one designer, and I've read in the FAQ's, that if requested, the designers have to include these variations when the contest is finalized. However, in the forums a Logotournament moderator posted that variations have to be paid for. Which is correct? I just need a consensus.
Thank you all again for participating. There is some great work here. I am excited, and yet kinda depressed about having to pick a winner. :)
