Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage more participation.
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ At contest close you will need to have 3 different designers ranked in the top three positions.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

1st place - 50 points
2nd place - 20 points
3rd place - 10 points
4-6th place - 5 points
7-10 place - 3 points
10th on - 1 point

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

Nancy,

Thanks for the reminder post, although this is my 3rd contest... If you look at /contests/pirate_import and /contests/arthus_co, you'll see that I am the talkative type and typically rank about 90% of submitted entries :) Although my limited contact with the client on this one might make it a little less active...

Hello to all,

Many thanks for all the great designs. The talent displayed by the designers on this site never stops to amaze me !

Just a bit of general feedback for everyone, on top of the individual comments left with each designer:

- So far, the client likes the grey / orange mix best, though we are still open to other color variations. The green probably won't work too well though.

- She likes the bit of "technical" feel provided by logos #5 #4 #8 #17 and #16

- Looking at her preference so far, it looks like she will go more for a simple pictorial mark such as the ones in the designs just mentioned, although she does like #16 which is more letterform I guess.

- Please stick to white backgrounds only. Thank you.

Once again, many thanks to everyone for all the great entries.

To lower the number of variables, for now, let's stick to a grey and orange color scheme. On Monday or Tuesday, once we'll have an idea of who our finalists are, we may ask some of you to try a few color variations just to see. But for now, grey and orange is good.

I will post individual feedback right now. Thank you.

Hello again,

Just a small background information reminder. I know it's hard to understand what SAM7 does exactly. It took me a visit to their actual physical location to really understand...

This may help though: Think of SAM7 as a company who can put components / bricks together. Their clients outsource to them the manufacturing and packaging of various hardware and chemical products. SAM 7 can just produce the actual product (the glue or anti-corrosion fluid or whatever substance itself), just the packaging (the tube or pot), just the printing on the packaging, or any combination of these, or everything / start from scratch and deliver a finished product. It's really a "custom-made" business. They also have a consulting role and give advice to their clients for marketing and product positioning.

I'll post again the top 3 things to comminucate that are in the brief:

#1 - Ability to start from nothing and to assemble different items and work with different partners to get to a finished product
#2 - Reactivity, dynamism
#3 - Custom-made / we manufacture as the customer wishes it

Thank you.

One quick note about feedback / organization: the client will be away without internet access for the rest of the day. Therefore, the next round of feedback probably won't be until tomorrow (Saturday). Keep up the great work though !

Many thanks to everyone and have a great week-end.

Hello to all,

Sincerest thanks to everyone for the hard work and overall very high quality produced in this contest.

I made a specific comment to one of the designers, but I feel it is only fair to share it with everyone:

The rules of this contest do not allow me to recommend ideas from other designers, so I'll give you a pointer, without, of course, asking you copy anything, just to use it a source of inspiration: the Joomla logo has a bit of that "components" / "modular" / pieces fitting together feel we're looking for. However, please remember that one other thing to communicate is "custom made" / products made exactly to specifications, as well as dynamism and reactivity.

Again, please just use this as general background info / direction, not a request to copy anything. I do not want something that looks exactly like it.

Thank you

Hello to all,

A bit less than 2 days to go. I just wanted to thank all the designers who have submitted so many great entries.

At this point, the client is starting to get a bit overwhelmed with all the options and small variations, and the fact that she's got several other people giving their input is not making her choice easy. I am working with her to provide guidance, but our limited contact makes this process a bit slow.

Aside from a couple comments made to specific designers, it is no longer necessary to submit small variations on existing concepts. No need for you to do more work for nothing. Completely new concepts are welcome though.

Thank you !

Client
Hello to everyone,

The client did not provide any specific feedback today, just a new top 10 ranking, which hasn't changed much since yesterday. The last 2 contests I did were for projects in which I had a stake, so the energy level was very different. On this one, I can only relay what the client says and when the client says nothing... well, you get the point :)

As I said, at this point I think the client already has a few favorite logos, and if nothing totally new and mindblowing comes in, she's already very happy with the results and we have enough material to pick a winner during the judging period.

But feel free to re-read the brief and all the general board posts I made about what the client does, PM me if you have any questions, and submit brand new ideas !

Thank you.

Hello to all,

Many thanks for all the entries. Again, the client only provided specific feedback for only a coupel designs, so apologies to the others for just an updating ranking but no detailed feedback.

2 hours to go.... for those of you looking to submit new entries, I'll say this again: think about what the client does: re-read the brief and the posts I made higher up on this general board.

Many thanks again for all the excellent work and may the best design win !

Best regards,

-David

Hello to everyone,

Many thanks to all for participating and producing so many different ideas with high-quality graphics. The client has made her choice and we will be working just a little bit more with the winning designer for small tweaks before we hit the "Select winner" button.

I'm sure some of you are disapointed, as with every tournament :). Just as a reminder, this contest was not for a project of mine unliek teh previous two, so the rankings, comments and ultimate choice reflects the client's taste (an those of her associates), not necessarily mine. However, I think it is fair to say that almost all the designers have displayed great talent and professionalism as well as a lot of effort, so here goes my usual "special thanks" list, including the winner:

- Glorious Kids
- logeko
- grafikus
- ekobudis
- lml76
- aQiF
- RetroMetro_Steve
- subzero
- ysonmez

And of course, many thanks in general to everyone who participated !

Kind Regards,

-David
