Don't be afraid to play with Red, Purple and Orange especially to add a dash of spice.
Black is OK if it appears along with red.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Note regarding the tagline - Distance Conquered. (Face) Time Transformed. The second half - (Face) Time Transformed. - has two embedded messages in it (1) Face Time Transformed, and (2) Time Transformed. Not only we are transforming how face-to-face meetings are held, but we are also transforming how time is used. Of course, that goes well with the first clause, Distance Conquered. We are leaving to your creativity to make these two messages as obvious as possible!

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank a variety of designs to get a variety of entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Leave private feedback by clicking on a design. Feedback will be made public upon contest completion
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you will see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested".
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Designers earn points for designs ranked 1st - 10th. We like to earn points.
~~ After your contest closes it will enter Judging phase. You can re-rank designs in Judging.
~~ While in Judging, the designer ranked in first place can submit revisions

Wow, this is a great start - you guys/gals have come out of the gate setting the bar high for everyone! As we are just beginning, I am going to make some of the feedback public so everyone gets a better idea of our tastes. As we progress, the feedback will become more private:

(a) Just to give you an idea where the name Pictiri comes from. Pictiri = PICTure + IRI. In Latin, iri means travel. So you get the idea - using picture to travel. Btw, the word is to be pronounced as picture-ee.

(b) The tagline is a must.

(c) We don't particularly like explicit pictures of humans communicating with each other. However, abstract understated forms are fine.

(d) We do like two color schemes with blue and grey. However, let's try some dash of color (by itself or as an accent with blue/grey). Experiment with some color - it's too early in the contest to rule that out.

(e) Imagine our logo on a business card - you should be able to read the tagline easily!

(f) Overall it seems we feel more comfortable with abstract designs than modern literal designs.

(g) We have got some great wordmarks. Let's see some other styles too!

(h) Don't forget thought of distance made irrelevant - any good ideas to incorporate that thought, anyone?

General comment - We think we are starting to feel that we definitely don't have a preference for images of TV displays unless until they are subtle and abstract.

Let's see if someone can get out the dual message embedded in our tagline -

Distance Conquered. (Face) Time Conquered.

Note the second clause is a play on two different messages: (1) Face Time Transformed, and (2) Time Transformed. We used parentheses around "Font" as a hint but you could use colors, fonts, or any other creative tool in your arsenal to bring out the duality. For example, you could use a different color for Face.

Remember videoconferencing at most basic level is transforming how face-to-face meeting are done. And it is radically changing how the time used (or rather not used).

No dark backgrounds please!

However an overlay on faint background is fine. For example, an overlay on faint trace of world map!

Another design element for people to run with - in our technology, all information is transmitted as a sequence of 1's and 0's. it could be any length sequence of these two numbers, e,g. 1001 0001 11 00 10101101 0001 and so on. This design element may be of interest to our Implementers target audience. It hints subtly of technology to people who know.

Time saved - it a very powerful, if not the most powerful, proposition of our business. I still cannot think of how to best convey that in a logo -I challenge the gifted designers to come up with a concept for that!!!

The designs submitted so far have surpassed our expectations and you all have made the bar very very high. THANK YOU!

FOR ALL DESIGNERS (LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE ON THIS WALL):

Designers should check if their color logo would lose significant impact/meaning if it was in black and white or black/grey/silver/white (greyscale). There may be applications where we may need to use a greyscale logo. If the logo depends exclusively on its color scheme to be unique or to send a message, it may pose a problem. Note this is not a problem of aesthetics - loss of aesthetics is to be expected and is acceptable to a large degree. However, loss of uniqueness and/or messaging is not.

Our focus group is reacting very negatively to use of smiley to convey the word "Face" in Face Time Transformed. The feeling is that we are serving a critical business need and a smiley send a less than serious message. We agree. NO SMILEYS PLEASE!

PLEASE DO NOT WITHDRAW YOUR ENTRIES FROM "NON_INTERESTED LOGOS" COLUMN. Most of these are variants (copies with slight tweaks/different colors/fonts/etc.) of those ranked. During the final selection process we will go back to look at the variants of each design that makes the final cut to choose that we feel is most suitable for us.

IT IS BY NO MEANS A REFLECTION OF OUR OPINION OF THE ENTRY. WE WILL NEED TO GO BACK TO ALL THESE VARIANTS ONCE WE HAVE A LIST OF FINALISTS DONE.
