Color Preferences
I want the words "Paint & ART" to be either, Black, Grey or White, simple but with strong bold lines, you must be able to read the text clearly. I'm thinking about the background colour in fluorescent yellow, the same as on the Brawn GP cars in Formula 1. www.brawngp.com I like either a square or a rectangle, big around the two words, something like the Orange mobile phone, logo
Our Ideas & Additional Information
The name of the business is, ''Paint & ART'' but I am open to advice about capitals, lower case lettering that sort of thing, I do prefer the ‘’&’’ to be this type of symbol rather than spelling out the word ‘’and’’ or ‘’n’’ but again I am open to suggestion’s. I want The word ‘’Paint’’ to have some colours involved, maybe behind the text or up to you really, I want the colours to be loose, abstract, maybe like paint’s been thrown at a canvas with different colours overlapping, with some sort of splashing effect going onto the word paint. I want the word ‘’ART’’ to be ruff, urban, street looking but not Graffiti as you must be able to read the word straight off. I like the idea of either a stencil type font, or maybe an old Dymo gun, where the print lettering was stamped onto the film. Or maybe it’s just been scribbled on with an ink pen. However, I still want to portray a professional and trusted image, not just a bloke with a spray can. Basically I’m after a ruff and a smooth effect with the two words. I am starting an internet business selling art supplies and also urban, banksy style abstract paintings that I’m going to take into a shop within a year. I am after a cool, urban artsy type vibe to the whole business. I want the word ‘’Paint’’ to refer to the art supplies side of the shop, and the ‘’ART’’ to refer to the gallery side

Hey Guys, thanks for putting in some entries so early, sorry to put some of the designs straight into the not interested file but i sort have an image of what i'm after and there not it.

just a few points;

After looking at some of these designs i dont think the yellow background works so can you all drop that idea please, i'll go for no background colour.

aQiF, i'm not sure if i want an abstract image in with the design, i kind of like #9, but i'm not 100% convinced but thanks for your input. I like the style of your font in #8 and #9, but only for the ART word. The word Paint, i'm looking more for a bolder but simpler style

Most of the designs are far to bright, i want a few colours in there but maybe a bit more subtle

Thanks so far for all your input, this is a good laugh, cheers......

Hey Guys, thanks for all your designs, can i just make a point.

Some of the designs are a little bit art and craft on the TV, to colourful and cartooney, i'm looking more towards a gritty, street, urban feel, but still maintaing a professional trusting image....Hope this helps

The deigns that i've ranked are awsome, to get designs this good so early is fantastic, thanks a lot.

Sorry for putting some of the designs in the not interested file but i'm trying to keep it tidy.

Cheers for your input.......Dave

Hi Designers, thanks for all your efforts, can i just steer you in a possible direction.

I saw a contest a few months ago, the contest was for "David King films", i though the entries were awsome and they had the feel and a bit of the look to wot i'm looking for, i'm not sure if can you find this contest, but the winning designer was, sunardi's, and the second place went to Immo0~.

Can Designers have a brief look at this contest as i feel it might inspire you as the feel and a bit of the look is very interesting to me, i would have picked immo0~'s design as the winner by the way, awsome design.

Thanks for all your time and effort.......DaveH

Hey Designers, firstly, thanks so much for all your work cos the entries have been awsome and i really appreciate the time and effort you've all put in especially over the christmas period.

I've had to extend my contest another 7 days, the reason has nothing to do with getting more designs as i've got over 200 which is more than i thought, and the quality is mindblowing, i have to extend because i need to speak to my website designers as there gonna build the website around the new logo design and i want there proffesional input, they've unexpectantly had to leave for a few days and i cant speak to them. I'm visiting family on new years eve/day so hence it has to be the 7 day extension, i hope this hasn't inconvienienced anybody, if it has then i appologise.

Thanks all for your time and effort.....DaveH

How to Rank and Thank Designers: When it comes time for final rankings, designers appreciate when you choose the top three CONCEPTS (as opposed to variations of the same design) for the gold, silver and bronze awards. If you want to rank two different concepts by the same designer in the top three, that's fine.
Also, rank as many entries as possible, because designers get points added to their overall site standing for each blue ribbon they get.

This is how points are distributed:

1st place - 50 points
2nd place - 20 points
3rd place - 10 points
4-6th place - 5 points
7-10 place - 3 points

After that, each ranked entry gets one point for the designer. Nobody will be insulted by being ranked last, the points are still good! So if you pull some entries out of the "Not Interested" group and give them a rank, the designer gets some benefit from entering your contest.

Hope that's helpful, lots of contest holders don't realize this and most are glad to know. It's a good way to thank designers who don't win the contest prize, but who worked very hard to offer you lots of options to choose from for a great logo.

Thank you very much in advance,
magnita

Hey magnita, thanks for your advice.

I sort of new this as i read a few of the threads on the forum pages before i started my competition, the only thing i wasn't to sure about is how designers get a blue ribbon.

What i intend to do is rank every designer who has submitted a design for me, i feel it's the least i can do. I'm goint to rank the top 20 in the order i like them, then the rest will be just randomly placed.

So just to clarify, every designer who is out of the top 3 and i rank them, they automatically get a blue ribbon.

Thanks for your help......Dave

Hey Designers, thanks for all your input, can you try something that i've just seen on TV, the logo for the DVD online rental business, LOVEFILM.com, the image on the website is very interesting, very simple and bold. The website is not quite the same as the tv advert, it's missing a reflection. I took a photo of the tv add but i dont know how to get it onto this page for you to see, i could email the image to anybody who wants to take a look.

Thanks for your time and effort that you've all put into this.....Cheers and a Happy New Year to you all.

Can i just say thanks a lot to all the designers who gave me there input, i'm amazed at how many of you participated, and the standard of the designs was awsome, i'm gonna have a hard job picking a winner.

I'm gonna spend a few days with my web designers looking at these designs so please bare with me a few more days.

How i'm gonna do it, is just like MAGNITA (mmm) said, i am gonna rank every designer who gave me there time and input, so at least they get a blue ribbon and some points, it's the least i can do.

Thanks again for all your help.....DaveH
