What We Do
As the "eBay of sales," MyPrivateArmy gives small to medium-sized manufacturers increased geographic reach through a crowdsourced sales force via an online platform.

Our Ideas & Additional Information
The idea is to equip smaller businesses with a "private army" of salespeople. Be careful with the use of military imagery. While it is possible that this could work if you have a great idea for it, I don't want all entrants to be preoccupied with this.

#1 and #2 are both fairly simple, clean designs, which is a good thing. The different color treatment in #1 for the word "My" is unexpected but interesting. I kind of like it. The style of #1 would also fit fairly well on a Web 2.0 site. Both #1 and #2 use green. I assume that this is because of the military reference. This is fine - while I am open to green logos, I wouldn't mind seeing some other options in future designs. That beings said, the font and color in design #2 are a little too serious and military-like. Thanks to the contributors so far!

I should also say that the "stacked" nature of the figures above the text in #2 is interesting. I had never thought of that before. It conveys "we have tons of people who can sell your stuff" without being too busy. While I'm not totally sold on the "X" figure as the people, this may be one way to go.

Hi,
thanks for your feedback,
if you click on the designs themselves you can read the designers comments and give feedback on individual designs there (that way the designer is notified when you leave a comment, which doesn't happen with comments in the general area)
Hope that helps.

Thanks to those who have submitted so far. While there are some aspects of individual logos that I like, I hope that future submissions will explore other themes in other styles.

Thank you for the continued logo submissions. Just a word to everyone.

Some of the submissions are WAY too military. I don't want to confuse my potential customers and investors. If you look at my comments on some individual submissions, I want to de-stress (at least a little bit) the military theme. Please think of this "virtual sales force" that my business is providing as a highly effective team. MyPrivateArmy means: (1) that as a small business I can have MY OWN sales force and (2) that this sales force will be LARGE and EFFECTIVE. Other than that, the analogy between the military and my business model falls way short. Rather the business name is based upon the expression in American English of amassing a "private army" to accomplish something.

Please do NOT think too much about the words themselves "MY PRIVATE ARMY" but rather what that term means for a business who wants to use us for their sales. In other words, please focus instead on what the expression "you'll need to hire a private army to do that", and think about what we do for the users of our website. Hopefully the latter part is clear in the contest brief, but I am willing to explain in more detail if anyone has questions.

Somewhat tangential references like compasses or compass roses; spearheads; etc. are fine, but logos that have US World War II fonts and olive drab backgrounds are simply non-starters. We need to be able to hand someone a business card and have them not automatically think that we work in the same industry the defense contracting firm Blackwater.

Hope this helps, and I look forward to seeing what more you can come up with.

I've been doing a little thinking to see how I can guide everyone. I know it's difficult having a company name you have to relate a graphic to without doing so too much.

Possible themes (and links to images I like) are below, but PLEASE don't feel confined to these:

1. Compass or compass rose:

http://www.sip.armstrong.edu/AASU/12.htm
http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/qojournal.htm (Would like this one to be longer at N-S-E-W points.)

2. Making a sale

3. Many people backing you up

4. Multiple, larger people lifting up or lending a helping hand to a smaller person (small business).

5. Spears or arrows

-arrows flying through the air toward a target (but probably NOT the cliched arrows on a bullseye)

-one single arrowhead or spearhead or multiple ones as in design #8:

http://novaseeker.blogspot.com/2009/09/spearhead.html

6. Expanding geography, maybe by using a map with some sort of progression over territory

Thanks for your hard work so far!

PLEASE NOTE: Designers, please keep in mind that the logo will need to appear on a website, so the height of the logo cannot be too large.

You are all professionals, so I don't want to insult you. But just in case anyone needs some Web2.0 inspiration, the link below has 450 web2.0 logos that someone has deemed "attractive":

Couple of other ideas for those who want them:

In addition to the themes we wrote about earlier above, you could design the logo around themes of...

7. Crowdsourcing

8. The text itself. There are plenty of good sites out there that are simply text in a compelling font with some interesting flair around it. Yelp, LinkedIn, and Skype come to mind. Given that the business name is so long, maybe NOT having an involved drawing next to or above the text makes sense...

Please keep up the good work. Thanks.

Thanks to all designers for the submissions and edits. There should be time enough now for one or two last attempts per designer if you so choose. I know everyone has put some good time into this, and we are appreciative.

That being said, we have still not totally decided on anyone, and the field is still very much open. I encourage everyone to re-check our earlier comments for guidance on how to proceed. Please keep in mind the following:

1. This is for a website, not letterhead. That should affect not only the theme but also the layout.
2. Completely abstract designs are unlikely to win, although we are open to what might be referred to as "word art" (thinking of LinkedIn, Yelp, etc. here). Although we have commented before on this, we haven't seen much.
3. Anyone can still win, and we look forward to seeing what you might tweak in current designs or come up with for new ones.
4. We will check for new submissions periodically and provide feedback at the following times (at a minimum): 10pm EST tonight, midnight EST tonight, and 8am EST tomorrow.

Thanks and good luck!
