Hi everyone, and thanks for looking! I'm behind on this (lack of planning on my part does not constitute an emergency on yours... I know!), but am hoping someone out there will feel sorry for me and get a concept or two out there earlier rather than later. I'm not gonna be able to extend this contest, as I'm up against a hard deadline. Early-Birds are more likely to get the worm on this one. Thank you!

All... A few thoughts. I specified BLUE in the brief, but am open to other colors if they make sense. The blue is not a "requirement" -- it just seemed like the right choice at the time.

I don't want to pack too much info into this thing... BUT (as everyone rolls their eyes. lol) one of the big draws for this conference is it's location in Reno (or so I'm told). If you can work "Reno" into it without messing it up a lot (a tall order, I know)... that might be good. One thought comes to mind... but don't overwork it:
Reconnect. Recharge. Renew. RENO. There may be some way to play with the "RE" of all the words. This last bit is NOT a direction or requirement.... just an idea that might be worth playing with.

I like all the designs so far... I'm ranking cuz I must... not because any is CLEARLY better than another. The unranked ones are just less preferred variations.

Great job of working with my feedback!

The rankings are still more-or less arbitrary... I like all I see a lot. I will be quiet for about 10 hours though. I hope to see something new and different when I get back. More feedback will come as soon as I have time.

THANK YOU FOR WORKING SO FAST!

Thank you for all the new revisions AND new concepts! I'll rank and comment as soon as I can.

A quick initial comment... the earlier "globe" concepts were not making me all warm and fuzzy... Looked way too Pan-Am Circa 1965... or like an old union logo. The 3-d globe concept in #35-37 works much better for me.

I'm feeling that the logos look too much like a logo for the "organization," IEA, as opposed to a logo for it's CONFERENCE. I'm not sure what to do about that... but incorporating something about the venue to replace the globe motifs might do it?

Some reference material for any who care... or are feeling particularly inventive:

Do a google search on "reno skyline" and look through the resulting images to get a sense of what the place looks like. Elements of the skyline that are distinctively Reno include: Mountains in the background, and two big "Globes" one is the Imax theater attached to the National Bowling Stadium, and the other is an architectural feature of the Silver Legacy Hotel. The "Reno Arch" is distinctive, but had negative connotations for many locals.

The conference itself will be held at the Eldorado Hotel

Thank you all for the recent submissions! A few things are becoming clear:

1) Playing up the venue (which I listed as item three in the brief) is working better for me. Perhaps that should have been the first or second "thing to communicate" in the brief, rather than just an afterthought.

The current leader has done a great job with a Reno skyline... and I know it is not cool to suggest that others use that. But I'm hoping that as I suggested it to everyone in the comment above... and provided some reference... that such would not be over-the-line. That said, I'd sure love to see a simpler way to say "reno."

2) If it looks like a logo for the ORGANIZATION "IEA" i'm not inclined to like it as much as if it looks like a logo for the conference.

What that means in the "real world" is that the letters IEA should have the same, or LESS emphasis in the logo than the concept of "Reno," or the words "International Conference"

3) I really like SIMPLE and CLEAN.

The logos that are ranked highly even though they have things I don't like are so ranked because they are clean and simple... and I san imagine them being effectively used in 1-color applications, or embroidered on a shirt.

4) If any of this needs clarification... just ask!! I'm at my delk for another 10 hours working on other stuff... so I should be able to answer quickly!

I moved a bunch of work to "non interesting" just to reduce the clutter. The ones I moved are just iterations of logos that are ranked.

The words "IEA" and "INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE" need to be similar in emphasis. The winning logo will NOT have the letters IEA as the main focal point of the logo.
