What We Do
We are a small strategy and marketing consultancy focused on the web, retail and consumer products industries.

Consulting
Color Preferences
Colors I like (obviously don't need to use them all together):
Green, Red, White, Blue, Orange, Grey

I'll be designing my website largely around the colors and style we come up with for the logo so at this point I'm fairly open.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
I don't like any of these logos but the list below are the strategy consulting marks our customers are used to seeing. I'd like ours convey the same trustworthiness and intelligence but to stand out as being more creative and fresh - less staid and pedigreed:

http://www.bcg.com/
http://www.bain.com/
http://www.mercer.com/
http://www.boozallen.com/

Also - here is my placeholder site until I design a new one (don't take any design direction from the site or the logo please): www.calderastrategy.com

A couple of additional points.

The name of the firm is "Caldera Strategy Group" but we don't need the word "Group" in the logo if it is too cumbersome.

While I don't mind some reference to a caldera (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caldera) in the logo, lets not go over the top with volcanos and lava

Finally, I don't want anything too "on the nose" e.g. a chess piece to denote strategy, etc.

I will do my best to give feedback and answer questions as quickly as possible.

I will comment on the entries when I get back to my computer but one thing I should have mentioned is that I need these to all work against a white background as we will use these on printed presentations and the like. So, while some white on logo is probably fine, a mostly white logo might not work.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone for a great contest so far. I've been very impressed by the quality of work here and the responsiveness. It seems we're narrowing on a type of logo here (an icon followed by the name roughly in a rectangle shape) which is fine and if anyone has an alternate take on this I'm happy to see it. However, I've got a few of these types of logos that I could be very happy with and, to be completely honest, at this point if anyone wants to change my mind on these I think the best bet is to go after something a bit different. Thanks very much to dazzleinteractive for continuing to send me different approaches ... even though I haven't seen one yet that looks right to me, I do appreciate the effort.

I'd love to see some designs where the image is pulled into the words or interwoven with them. Also, I'd be interested in any other creative ideas that get across the mood and feel I spoke about in the project brief.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

- To make it fit in the margins of documents, etc. I think a horizontal rectangle shape is the best (although I do love something that can switch around when in places where I can give the logo more space like on a report cover - see #80 and #81)
- I really don't want a picture of a volcano. Its fine if there is something abstract that alludes to a volcano (and, in fact, I think that might be cool) but I don't want any pictures of volcanos or chess pieces (too "on the nose" for a strategy consultancy)
- I like blue, green, grey and red so far but I definitely prefer more muted tones of these

Thanks again for all the great submissions

Everyone - I've really enjoyed this and I feel like we got some nice logos. I'm going to take the top 10 or so and discuss them with my partners in a couple of hours and then we'll make a final decision (so the top 10 might shake up again just before the end).

A couple of you have sent me private messages but the site doesn't let me read them this close to the end evidently.

Thanks to everyone who submitted.

Would you mind to explain me why you has wait until the contest is closed to send this link. It would be great to see your link before so I would have time for changing my design so I can avoid any reminding to a rose, as my logo is inspired in fire. But no no, you has not do it until the contest is close because you are a very good person, isn’t it?

I sent it as soon as I found it in PORTFOLIO menu. The irony is unnecessary. It wasn't malice.
I just thought you should know it. It is more valuable than 300$. Do not blame me, it wasn't me who made that logo. Don't despair. It happens to the best.

Ha, what a coincidence! You have found a logo of a Salt Lake City golf course just in the last minute of the contest living in Poland. You don’t even believe yourself.

Good Luck.

JJ, there are a ton of logos still in the unranked status. We appreciate it as designers to know one way or another whether you like or favor the design. Come up with a cutoff (say, 20 or 50 places) and then all the additional designs eliminate as "Not interested". We love feedback on designs, whether good or bad. Just to know you've acknowledged our designs, reviewed it and determined it's worth to you.

Thanks veo - I will do it today. A lot of the ones that were unranked were there because there was something I liked about them but they also weren't right - I didn't drag them to "not interested" because it seems most designers withdraw the logo after I put it there so I'm not able to come back later and ask them for changes on it when I get a better idea of how I might like it better. It would be nice if the site let us continue to see even the withdrawn logos (even if they had a watermark or something over them).

Anyway, since we are settling on a winner, I will go through and rank them all today.
