Discussion

Would like to have "the" be capitalized so we can use BTI as our acronym.
Would like to see some attempts at incorporating an "ink splot" (an example was uploaded with our application).
Some fonts we've used in the actual product are Avenir, Avenir lite, and Georgia...so something in those families would be interesting to explore as well.

Hello designers! Nice to see some really compelling stuff coming in.
A few things we've realized about our brand that would be great to keep in mind.

We want to insure people relate to the full phrase "Beneath the Ink" vs. any abbreviation or using an acronym in the logo itself. We think having BTI and the phrase Beneath the Ink is too overwhelming.

Would be interesting to play around with the concept of Beneath being beneath something since people "delve into" the words when using our product.

Looking great! Still trying to simplify more.. We definitely want to include an ink splot somehow! We are going to get rid of the "you know you want more" tag line... Can't wait to see more!

Hey we're in final stretch! Woo Hoo!
A few other things we've realized in going through this process.
1. Simple is better and starting to gravitate toward designs with less elements to pay attention to.
2. The tag line is too much. We tried it and thought it would help but realized it adds to much complexity especially in the places we see the logo appearing. So for any designs coming in from here on out please drop the tag line.

Thanks we really appreciate all of your hard work.
Sincerely,
The Beneath the Ink team

Getting so close!

We really want to see an attempt at making the ink leak out of the words (maybe "Ink") and have a sort-of hand written feel...

We definitely want to go with the ink splot, but want to see more abstractions of that!

1 more hour and we will be picking top 5!

Congratulations top 5'ers. Looking forward to seeing more from each of you.

Some things to explore...
a stylized inksplot - ideally one that still has a slightly random element (vs. perfectly symmetrical).
a "flat" design that experiments with text. Ideally the text could stand alone (ie having the option to have it work with or without the inksplot icon or not depending on the branding situation)

Thanks

Dear designers.
Our company is located in Boulder, Colorado US. You may have seen or heard on the news that we have had a huge storm and severe flooding. As people were evacuating homes and dealing with floods and helping friends and family effected, it was impossible to get everyone who needed to be involved gathered to finalize our logo contest requests and inputs. I explained our situation and Logo Tourney was gracious enough to extend our contest. We do not plan to use all 3 extra days, but merely needed another business day to get the team together, ask final questions of designs etc. We appreciate your hard work, understanding, and patience!

Hello,
We are back at work now and ready to give feedback, rank quickly and get this contest closed! Again we appreciate your hard work and a bit of patience as we had to extend the contest due to forces of nature.

Even though the pen tip is a lovely addition to the logos we feel having the name + pen + inksplot is too much going on at the same time. Our product features the inksplot prominently and it is for this reason we're requesting that all designs are simplified to include just the name and some form (stylized or not) of inks plot. The inksplot can be whatever you imagine! We are NOT tied to the example that was uploaded originally.

Good luck to everyone.
