Our Ideas & Additional Information
***This is a new non-profit trade/business/educational organization and you have the opportunity to build our brand image and create something extraordinary without preconceived logos or images!!! ***

The main theme is to have the letters ALP and/or the name "Association of Lodging Professionals" form the main body and be the focal point of the logo.

One idea is for a word mark with the letters 'ALP' alone or part of an emblem; we want the letters ALP to be the focal point and be able to stand alone. As an additional usage, it can be with "ALP | Association of Lodging Professionals" with the full text stacked on three lines or such to the right of ALP. The logo ALP should stand alone.

Another idea is an emblem (shield, shape of UPS?) with ALP with or without the words written around it.

we would like to see logos / word marks with variations of little to moderate imagery/icon components. However, whatever icon or traditional imagery is used it should be transformed and modernized. Clean simple lines that convey an idea and can be seen clearly from a distance or if reproduced small. For example, if a key is to be used, it should NOT be an intricate detailed key as may be in a pencil drawing, but a stylized bold modern one. If a pineapple is to be used, perhaps one vertical HALF could be cut out of the letters or somehow used in a shield emblem design in a bold simple way without being too detailed. Another icon imagery idea is perhaps a keyhole can be negative white space in the A or P (the open top space?)

the winning logo will TRANSFORM a traditional image (key, keyhole, pineapple, door, etc.) into something as part of the logo that is unique whether or not it is readily recognizable as traditional imagery.

FONT - please use standard fonts. You can gently 'nudge' them for word marks or emblems, but we require the final logo to be based on or "highly compatible" with standard fonts.

The following ideas are COMMON to all artists and not unique to any submission as they are our ideas:
Advocacy Learning Patrtnership

roof
key(s) / keyhole
Pineapple

Thank you to everyone who has submitted so far, and we're looking forward to all artists that are joining in the next few days.

To make our job easier, we will be marking "not interested" any logos that have duplicate or similar versions that we like more... this doesn't mean that the logo concept or design is not interesting, but rather that other posted versions are closer to what we're looking for.

---For CLARIFICATION.
I meant to say I will be marking some designs as "not interested" for any one artist's work if that same artists have duplicate or similar versions.... I won't be considering different artists work as similar or duplicates. Sorry for any confusion.

BRIEF UPDATE FOR ALL ARTISTS:

I have received some preliminary feedback from our other board directors. Going forward, for any new submissions, revisions or updates, please ensure that your designs:

1. Layout is for graphic/word mark to be on the left, and
2. On the right, the words in all caps line 1 "ASSOCIATION OF", line 2 "LODGING", Line 3 "PROFESSIONALS".
3. Line 2 LODGING should be larger font, such that the edges of the word LODGING and line 2 are justified with the left and right (even with) lines 1 and 3.
4. Underneath the words "ADVOCACY - LEARNING - PARTNERSHIP" in same font, with or without italics or formatting as appropriate for your design. Separators can be '-' or other separators as you see fit. The line of text (line 4 I guess) should be aligned/justified with the far left of the logo/mark above and the far right of the three lines (ASSOCIATION OF LODGING PROFESSIONALS) above.
5. Please submit your logos in the 2 colors in the design brief only and please ensure color matching when exporting; in some designs, the color blue is incorrect or visibly off. You may also use one color, the blue PMS 294C if more appropriate.

RANKING UPDATE -
Thank you everyone for your submissions! Please note that rankings are NOT finalized and very fluid.

PLEASE BE PATIENT OVER THE NEXT 24-48 hours as we update rankings and don't withdraw if you fall temporarily in the ranking as we are 8+ people considering many options... as they say it ain't over until someone sings.

Please make sure to update your entries with any requested changes and revisions as I have to report to our full board of directors (decision makers) and only logos that are updated and on mark will be presented.

Thank you everyone for your entries.
As we enter the finalists selection stage, please make sure to update your versions with any specific feedback you received.

Also, if you have not color corrected your logo, or if you want to nudge your design to clean it up or provide additional versions, at your option, feel free to do so.

I'll be getting feedback on finalists from our board in the next 24 to 36 hours.

Thank you all for your imagination and hard work!

I've run half a dozen Logo Tournament contests for various companies I've worked for over the past several years, for my own businesses, and for (now) a nonprofit. I continue to be amazed with the huge depth of talented artists that create work, and have to admit this was perhaps the hardest contest to judge.

While you are all winners in our eyes, the 1st place winner goes to an artist that created work which embodied complexity within simplicity, and exceeded at transforming our imagery and brief and modernizing the look and feel of our brand.
