Our Ideas & Additional Information
"Yarl" is the traditional name for the Jaffna peninsula in northern Sri Lanka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaffna). It was an ancient kingdom and cultural center for Sri Lankan Tamils.
The palmyrah palm tree is a recognized symbol for this region. The Yarl Food team would like to include a palmyrah tree or leaf in the logo. Images of the palmyrah palm are attached.
The emblem and arms are just examples of the palmyrah symbolism. This is not the look we're going for. We'd prefer an updated image. It should remind Sri Lankans of home but look appropriate on the shelf of an international supermarket or Whole Foods.
