What We Do
We are a dental office offering a full range of preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dental services in a small, rural town in western Wisconsin in the upper midwest of the United States. Our patient base and target audience is predominantly middle class, white, and over the age of 35. Our community is mostly blue-collar workers, medical professionals, and service industry workers. We are trying to target more affluent patients from surrounding communities.

Color Preferences
This is a rebrand, and our old logo was navy blue, maroon, and white. We are open to a new logo featuring those colors, but we'd also like to try out new colors and combinations. We want to stay predominantly in the blue family. Previous logo tournament winners for our group have often featured a darker blue contrasting with a lighter blue. Accent colors can also include the aforementioned maroon, as well as silver or greens. With the name "Whitehall," we also want white to be featured. Please AVOID bright red.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Please avoid tooth-shaped designs or elements (the owner rejects those outright). We would like "Whitehall" to be more prominent than "Dental Center" in the logo, unless all three words are equal size. We want our logo to be clean and slightly upscale in feel. Our owner likes to have a visual element incorporated into the name itself — not placed beside or above the name. The town of Whitehall has Scandinavian roots, and their high school nickname is Vikings. Perhaps a subtle nod to that or the color orange could be in the logo (please don't try to use viking horns or anything that bold). There is a small-town, quaint feel to the town, and that can also be an idea to run with. Please see some of the other winners we've chosen on LogoTournament (more in the attached files) for further ideas. PLEASE ALSO NOTE: Any logo design we choose must be able to translate well to embroidery on our staff scrubs and small printed materials. Therefore, minute details will not work. Thank you!

Again, please make sure to avoid using teeth or tooth shapes in the design. Those concepts will be rejected outright. The use of smile shapes is fine.

NOTE: I will probably be checking submissions once every six hours or so. I tend to dump all logo designs in the rankings without careful ranking until a few days have passed. If your design is near the bottom of the rankings, it may not be because we don't like the design — it just might mean I haven't had the chance to carefully rank yet.

Thank you so much to all the designers who have been submitting concepts. PLEASE NOTE: Our rankings are very fluid and ever-changing, so please do not be discouraged if your top design is outside the top 50 (or lower). Sometimes we simply can't stay on top of all the designs coming in, so great designs get moved down inadvertently. It would be a shame if you were to withdraw from the contest thinking there was no chance — until we select our winner, there is always a chance. We have many stakeholders with very different sensibilities who need to see these designs, so please stay in the race. Thank you again!

UPDATE: With the blind phase ending, please know that our ownership and management team have not yet had the opportunity to look over these designs. This means that any designs in our ranking system have an opportunity to be moved into the finalist group. Please do not withdraw any of your designs at this time. I appreciate all the work you've done and — again — be assured that these rankings will be changing significantly over the course of the next few days. Thank you!

UPDATE - END OF BLIND PHASE: While I have tried to rank logos based on what I believe our ownership will find strongest, none of the logos have yet been shared with our primary stakeholders. Please do not withdraw any of your designs still in the ranking system, and please reinstate any designs you might have already withdrawn. I've seen our owner select logos listed in the bottom third of my rankings a few times, so everyone is in the running for the top spot. In the coming hours, there will probably be a good deal of shuffling of the order, so I ask that you please have patience with our process. Thank you again for all your work!

UPDATE - FINALIST PHASE: I hate to do this, but sometimes I receive feedback from our ownership team that alters the course of a contest. Having spoken with some of the stakeholders, it's become clear that they would like a design that is less "modern"/abstract and incorporates more natural elements and tones. Some of the suggestions I received were for a design that utilizes green and beige earth tones, as well as potentially natural imagery of rolling hills, trees, farmland, and/or deer. Of course, I wish I had this feedback from them at the beginning, but I appreciate you trying to incorporate some of these changes into your designs. Thank you for all your work!

You might want to consider back to the Open phase.

I know that not everyone runs a logo tournament in this manner, and it's probably frustrating for designers. But I wanted to convey to you all that everyone who is ranked at all is still in the running. In this phase I've been trying to move as many of the designs I liked best into the Top 5 positions because of the additional feedback I received from our stakeholders regarding color choice and design elements. If you have not been moved up yet, I will try to do so (working well into the night tonight). I wanted to emphasize again: your rank increase or decrease during this phase is solely to give as many great designers as possible the chance to respond to the feedback I received. Thanks for your patience and your great work!

I'm still working to get every one of our top designers a chance to submit last-minute changes in response to the latest feedback from our owner. I want to repeat: Anyone who is ranked and has logos not discarded is in the running for our top spot. The owner has said he would like to see earth tones for the design, but he has not dismissed designs with the blue, grey, maroon color palette. He doesn't like the way the maroon is looking, so I would recommend moving away from that color for any revised designs. Thank you again for all your contributions!

Thank you so much to all the designers who have contributed to this contest! Please, please: Do not withdraw any of your designs that are not in the "Not Interested" column. Our stakeholders will be getting together this weekend and early next week to evaluate and discuss all of the designs. There will be some ranking going on before that, but understand that it's just me doing so, and our owner and others on the management team have not weighed in yet. They might (and often do) have very different ideas on these designs. Thanks again, and have a great weekend!

I appreciate very much all the work that you designers have put forth in this tournament. We're very close to a decision, but we have a few more stakeholders to weigh in that have not had an opportunity to do so yet. We ask that you please do not withdraw any designs that are still ranked. Thank you again for all your work!
