Your Guide to Alaska Real Estate
What We Do
I am a Keller Williams Realtor who works with home buyers and sellers in Anchorage, Alaska.

Real Estate
Color Preferences
I like the Alaskan flag colors...dark blue & gold, but I'm open to a variety of colors. I also really like purple. I'm a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty, who has red & black as their colors, which are also the colors on my signs, so the logo has to work with those colors. I'd like the logo to have probably 3-5 colors in it.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
I would like it to have an Alaskan feel, and also to tie in to fishing (preferably fly fishing), and portray real estate in some way. I've uploaded my current logo so you can see what I've been using, and you can read the comments section to get more information about that.

I'm also in the process of developing a new website, which will give you an idea of who I am. It's not finished yet, and the logo at the top is a slight redesign of my current logo (which I plan to move & replace with my new logo). The slide show on the main page will show you a little about life in Alaska. http://74.82.12.99/

An Alaskan feel can be mountains, the state (which has a very distinct shape), the flag or big dipper & North star (which are on the flag), the Aurora Borealis (also called Northern Lights), wildlife (bears, moose, eagles & salmon are common), fireweed. These are just some ideas.

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monitary means of showing apprecaition for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

Just a note to all the designers: I really appreciate your efforts, and I plan to rank and comment on as much as possible. But I am a mom to a baby and a 3 year old, plus a Realtor, so I'm not always able to get to my computer on a regular basis. Please be assured that I will rank and make comments, but it may take a little more time.

For this reason, I'd really appreciate if you could get the designs to me earlier, so I don't have to worry about trying to do a bunch of last minute revisions.

I will need a logo that can look great small (on business cards) as well as large (on signs). It also has to be able to look good in grayscale for letterhead (or have a grayscale version). Thanks!

#1: Thank you for your submission. I really like the colors and the houses with the mountains, but I'm not sure it's quite what I'm looking for. I don't want my name to be quite so prominent. I'm thinking more of a logo that can also stand alone without my name, but I'm flexible.

I'd love to have something relating a bit to fishing as well, since I love fishing and I came up with my slogan to sort of go with my fishing theme. Fly fishing would be especially good. Thank you!

I have another idea...I'm not sure how it would work, but I'm not opposed to using my slogan in the design element. Perhaps the As in Alaska can be snow capped mountains, or there can be the state of Alaska silhouette, or the Big Dipper (which is on our state flag) to make it Alaskan, and I'd still like some sort of fly fishing reference as well as making it real estate related (maybe the As can be house roofs?).

If there is going to be a fish and fly fishing in my logo, I'd like to have the body shape a little more like a salmon, which is a very common Alaskan fish. I've uploaded 2 photos of me with salmon I've caught to give you an idea of what they look like. They are a little longer and not as fat as some fish, and the tail is not forked. I'm not expecting a realistic drawing of a salmon, but just the basic shape where it looks like it could be a salmon.

I've uploaded a picture of my current logo. It's just something I came up with, so there are no other designers involved with it. My thought at the time was that it represented my slogan--the fly fishing person was like a fishing guide "Your Guide," the state of Alaska of course was "to Alaska" and the Sold banner across the state was "Real Estate."

I decided I wanted something a little nicer and that seemed a little more real estate related. I was thinking of adding a roof over the state, or a house around it, or maybe do the fly line in the shape of a roof. At this point I'm willing to do something completely different, but thought this might help give you an idea of what I was doing.

I also posted the URL for the new website I am working on (it's currently unfinished) in my brief. It's http://74.82.12.99/ in case you didn't see it up there. This gives you an idea of who I am and about Alaska (there's a lot on the About Alaska page, plus the slideshow of photos on my Welcome page).

I've mentioned an Alaskan feel, and here are some additional ideas of what is Alaskan: An Alaskan feel can be mountains, the state (which has a very distinct shape), the flag or big dipper & North star (which are on the flag), the Aurora Borealis (also called Northern Lights), wildlife (bears, moose, eagles & salmon are common), fireweed, forget-me-nots (the state flower). These are just some ideas.

I love a lot of the submissions I've been getting, but I'd also like to see a few designs that are a little more simple, with maybe 3-4 colors, and maybe using the state shape instead of mountains to portray Alaska. You can look at the pictures I uploaded to get an idea of what I have been using.

Another idea that may be interesting is to do mountains & fish, or a pond with a wildlife shape (moose, caribou, wolf, bear) inside a house shape outline in some way. Maybe even a bear in a stream with fish next to a house. It can be a simple line design as well...something that gives the shape, but isn't filled in. There's a local dentist with a kind of line drawing of polar bears as a logo that is sort of nice: http://www.aksmiles.com/

Thanks everyone for all the great work! I really appreciate you!

This is a note to all the designers, since nobody has done anything like this: What about incorporating my slogan into a design? I was thinking of maybe having my name, then a line which could be a fly rod, then my slogan in a format something like:

Your Guide to
ALASKA
Real Estate

With the Alaska being a little bigger and the A's being snow capped purple mountains. Then the fly rod can have a line with a hook or a fish that goes around or under part of the logo...and maybe a house shape next to it or something to tie it in to real estate? Just some thoughts. My name could be above or next to the slogan. Or perhaps my name next to the slogan, with a fly rod in between and a roof over the slogan? Thanks everyone!

I have an idea I'd like to have someone try: A solid color house (maybe a dark blue or black)--a house with walls & roof, with just a sprig of fireweed on one corner or a clump of forget-me-not flowers, and a fly rod leaning against the house or under it (with or without a fish?). Just something simple without mountains or water or anything else.

I'd love to have someone work with my current logo and see what you can do to take that idea, make it a little more real estate related & a little more professional. My current logo is uploaded in my pictures.

I'm still really interested in having someone try working a logo up around my slogan....I mentioned a few ideas earlier, and I'd love to see what you can come up with.

I'd also still really like to see what someone can do with my current logo to upgrade it and make it look nice.

I hope someone who is currently working on my contest or a new designer will submit a couple of new ideas for me.

Thank you everyone for the great response!

Just a quick note...I've changed the rankings to group all the similar logos that I like together, to make it easier to compare. I'll change it all back once I've had a chance to sort through them and take a good look.

Thank you!
