Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage more participation.
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monitary means of showing apprecaition for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

#2 The Thistle design is attractive and very Scottish. We particularly like the stylised way it is done.
General Comments.
The Thistle is used a lot for awards and recognition schemes in Scottish Tourism (see this link - http://www.visitscotland.org/events-and-training/awards/thistleawards.htm as an example) so whatever we use will have to be unique and very distinctive/different.
We may have not made clear that we are not looking for a logo for Tourism Excellence Consultancy - we already have that - but we need a logo for a new excellence award and accreditation scheme we are planning which will be called 'Excellence in Scottish Tourism'. Any words in the logo need to be these and not Tourism Exceellence Consultancy.
Thank you for you speedy responses and efforts so far. Sorry if our brief wasn't clear enough as to what we are looking for.

General comments. Could contestants think about some different images, please. We need something that represents both Scotland and Excellence. Could there be any anaimals (stag; deer) or bird(eagle; osprey), scenery (mountains, glens, lochs), or weapons (claymore (a typr of sword), shield) or plants other than thistle (heather?). If the words Excellence in Scottish Tourism could be incorporated into the logo (around it perhaps) that could be useful. I have done a bit of research on scottish symbols and come up with this website that seems to have some different ideas http://www.vanishingtattoo.com/tattoos_designs_symbols_scottish.htm

Thanks to all who have entered so far - your efforts are much appreciated and deserving of recognition.

To all designers. We are in a state of shock at the exclusion of eeshu's designs and, to give us time to fully consider our position we have extended the competition by 7 days. New entries would be most welcome. John

Dear johnburchell:-)....LT hopes to provide the best possible outcome to its CH and designers alike. Designers agree to codes of conduct everytime they enter a concept into your contest. One of those, no clipart is allowed. This is a rule to protect you, the logo buyer.....if you purchase a logo that contains any part of clipart/stockart(even if the designer says they 'bought it', they 'own' the rights to use, 99.9% of the time, to use in a LOGO, is not allowed through stocksites terms of use. You will not be able to protect it through copyright.

LT strives to provide 100% original work from talented designers all over the word.......In order to do this, there are rules, to keep LT strong, and a great place for people to come for an logo.
I hope you can understand this, and I am sure you will receive more great concepts, original, before your contest deadline.
Sincerely,
Tini1
volunteer LT moderator and designer.

I've done trademark searches against my own designs in a contest before in order not to offer a contest holder a logo that he could not trademark.

If we let people assemble logos from sources they do not own here at LT, it's not going to be good for anybody. The reason the top designers in the world bring ideas here is the integrity of the product and the competition. There are other sites that sell clipart and stolen logos for a much cheaper price.

I'm sorry your contest got shaken up. I voted yes to remove the first one and declined to vote on the second, as I knew something like this might happen.

The CH has expressed his distaste over the few designers using clipart here. Let this be a word to the wise.

Hi everyone - we know about the esehu 'issue' - please consider this feedback the CH asked me to post.

"I know eeshu copied this design, which is unacceptable, but we really like the flow of the image. It is not so static like many thistle-type logos we see. We would appreciate ideas that incorporate a more organic flow approach. Also take into account that we have concluded that we are interested in logos that have these other key elements: crispness of style, colour, brightness, image shine, serif style lettering, subtle Scottishness, interpretation of quality and excellence."
