Our Ideas & Additional Information
The Monkey Trust is basically the community building project and is the name of the website. The ways we build community are as follows:

Monkey is my alter ego. I am friendly, warm, a connector, outgoing, full of energy and life, open minded, non-judgmental, and always encouraging people to do the right thing, and live lovingly. Let's make Monkey more feminine. (Now think Minnie Mouse?!)

In the logo, the mascot could be extending a welcome hand into the city, thus the city symbol would be in the background.

Discussion

Hey! Thanks for the amazing submissions!

A bit of feedback...
#9 - The feedback here is that people like the concept of a city, but the logo itself is too "dark", "gothic", "like that flying monkey movie that Brad Pitt was in" (???), but that they would like to see more...

#2 (grey monkey removed) I think I would like to have the monkey to be either sleek and streamlined, (like the guitar log) or with lots of personality. Of some of your past logos, I like Lamin formis, stinger terminator, el rincon postito, homedog.

#7 is more appealing to me, although I can't give any feedback as to why?

#8 I like the monkey less than #7, but leave it up! The Monkey community here in Atlanta has been weighing in, and they are much smarter than I.

#10, 12, and 13. The concept of the world and the key is interesting. albeit "rough around the edges". I like a more refined look. And the monkey face is not to my taste. As for the "Gorilla", he's a bit too masculine, and lifelike, meaning that when I see it, and the name, my assumption is that is has something to do with raising money for the gorillas. The other monkey is not very monkey-like to me, and in fact looks like another animal I saw in New Zealand, I think, but can't remember the name. As far as monkey types go, I do prefer interpretations of the chimp version of a monkey better than most of the other types of monkeys, as they seem to have more curiousity, look friendlier, etc. That being said, I still want to stay with an "interpretation" rather than a real life depiction. Thanks again for your good work!

#20-#24- Thanks so much for the first entries. I just can fall in love with your monkey, the colors, or what they are doing, how they are doing it? I'd love to see more of your talent. Let's try something a little bit different. :)

Aww...#25! You are in the runningt! Nice job! It looks like the monkey is holding on for dear life rather than directing us where to go! What can we do about that? :)

#28 - The logo itself is not bad....It just does not communicate anything to me. Thanks so much for contributing! I'd love to see more of your work~

#31- It looks OK, visually, but does not for me in the way of easily customizing by the city. Could you possibly look at some of my other feeback and build from there? Thanks!

#33- Good first try... Looks like the gorilla monkey is trying to indicate that he is king of the world! It's not really doing a lot for me yet! But I love a lot of your previous work in your portfolio!

#34 and #41, Neither do much to communicate to me our concept. I'd love to see what else you can come up with~ :)

#36- I like your concept of keeping the word "Monkey", consistant and putting a loveable, cute, friendly monkey in there..maybe at the beginning of the word??? Then we can build from there. The gang here likes the idea of a unifying element in the background..perhaps a city skyline. Then, each city will be "monkeying around <city> so if every single section of the word "monkey" is the same we could localize each " ing around <the city>" (with a peach, for example, in Atlanta, pig in cincintti, apple in New York, etc) Thus I love the concept of the the monkey integrated into the lets build on that! I'd love to fall in live with her/him...see some different fonts, play with reverse coloring (see the guitar logo I uploaded!) Great first try!

#39- My gang here really likes your concept, but not your monkeys (they saw "rats", "ants"... :-) not the font, the colors (except maybe the yellow sun) or the scale of the font! But, they unanimously moved it up towards the top with the caveat that those things need some work. Let's make the monkey come alive and have some personality!!

#44, #45, #46, #47, #48, #49... OK...we are getting excted about #44!!! Your monkey is adorable and fun! We are thinking it might be cool to customize the the background badge with every city... with farmland or the specific city skyline subtly with each city...and we could dress up our little monkey for each city! Cowboy or whatever happens to be what the city represents. Oooooh! We love it! DO you mind playing around with "Monkeying Around Atlanta"? in the space? Or New York, Or LA? I am excited!!! Oooooh! ooo! Oooh! We love it! Now, if you want to play around with anothers, I like the idea of a city scape that is more bold and obvious. Also, since "Monkey will have to be adapeted to "Monkeying" we would need a font that will allow us to easily add the "ing around <specific city> as we continue to expand to different cities. I think I like the word over the monkey's body, more than having the body by itself as in one of your designs. I think... :) Not sure. But so far, yours is head and shoulders above the rest, in our opinion.

#50 is cute but doesn't do much to communicate what we do. Is that a life buoy? Thanks! Let's see if we can build from here!

#51, while may be visually appealing, and gooddesign, it doesn't communicate clearly, what we are, in my opinion. And I would like to do that! Thanks for drawing outside of the lines! Is it possible to adjust it (quite dramatically) It will have to be to be considered. :( Thanks!

#52 Cute, but too Bear-like! The one to beat at this point is the one in the #1 spot. I do like circles, I guess... LOL! But the feedback I have for you is that it doesn't communicate what I want to communicate, and the monkey isn't loveable enough to me! :)

#85 -#88- At this point, I am only looking for something that I like better than the #1 position. I like the loveable nature of that monkey. Your monkey is not as lovable, in my opinion. Please see my revised comments on my design. I used the example of Mickey Mouse as a "mascot". So, I am not looking for Mickey Mouse, I am looking for a monkey character that can be as memorable and lovable as Mickey Mouse to serve as a host to every city and as a symbol of the monkey Trust overall! Thanks so much for your submissions!

For all, Other ideas....I am wondering what a logo would look like if a personable monkey is sort of wrapped around the globe abstractly, putting a key in the hole, or holding the globe lovingly, or riding a bike with globes as the wheels, or standing on top of the world, juggling different "events", . Then it would be really easy to adapt per city, by putting a push pin in the area of the world (where the city would roughly be) with the text reflecting each particular city...Monkeying around Atlanta, for example below. That symbol without a push pin could be the Monkey Trust? Just monkeying around with some ideas... :)

Thanks, all for your awesome efforts! Great initial tries! I commend you for jumping out there and submitting first! This feels a bit like Psychic Charades. I am to get you to guess my thoughts...and I don't know what my thoughts really are! Uggh! Sorry!

Logo Designer
Dear MonkeyTrust,

You may or may not be aware...if you click on the individual entries and make individual comments on the particular designer's page...they get an email alerting them that you have left feedback. This ensures that none of your feedback comments are overlooked or lost in the shuffle.

Of course...it is your choice as to how you would like to communicate your requests. I just thought I'd let you know there is an additional option available to you.

Best of luck with your contest.

I am looking for a very adorable, friendly and distinctive "ambassador" that can be dressed according to each city. When converted to a real live mascot, the monkey must be The Monkey Trust monkey, with characteristics that distinguish it from all other monkeys. It must be able to be made into stuffed monkeys that look like the Monkey Trust Monkey, rather than just a stuffed monkey. (think mouse vs. mickey mouse)

Even though the monkeys in the running are adorable and cute, they are not especially "brandable"...

Also, the monkey is my alter-ego... I am a woman with a big smile and lots of energy, who connects people, shares resources... So, a decidedly masculine monkey doesn't really work if the monkey is appearing in videos and has a feminine voice! A somewhat androgynous or even leaning toward a feminine monkey would be better.
