Hello, killian! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing apprecaition for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

Some general comments from bob the bass player, 9/1/2010:

Firstly, thanks to everyone for submitting designs--they're all much better than we could do ourselves.

Secondly, many of the entries seem to draw inspiration from bygone eras. Nothing wrong with that, but even though our professed "aesthetic" (hope it doesn't sound too pretentious to use that word) includes the classic appeal of acoustic instruments, we are a modern ensemble with a contemporary point-of-view. Perhaps the reference to woodcut artwork gave too strong an impression that we were going for an antique look whereas we had intended to reference woodcut as a technique rather than a style. In other words, we don't want the design to pigeon-hole us as an old-timey, Americana band. So it's okay to incorporate modern and sophisticated styling (maybe a touch of 1930 art deco, 1950's mid-century modern, a 1970s post-hippie swagger, perhaps a hint of Bauhaus).

Our strategy was not to be too specific, but to leave room for your creative imagination to come up with something truly original and unique.

Thanks again for your work.

Thanks for all the submissions. Our contest was scheduled to end yesterday, September 6th, which is the Labor Day holiday in the USA. Due this past weekend being a holiday, we received a 3-day "reprieve" from the governor, and therefore the contest now ends on the 10th.

We're grateful for the designs that have been submitted and the work that has been done. Still, we would like to see some entries with a more iconic aspect to them, and perhaps a darker, more somber feeling. Our slogan "It's better to have loved...and won" is meant in an ironic way--while we're not a Death Metal band, we're definitely not a "happily ever after" band either. Many of our songs are about tragic heroes whose downfalls came through their relationships with women.

Can a tragic-romantic-hero aspect be captured in an iconic design?

Thanks again to everyone.
