Thanks for this submission. Interestingly, when we began sketching-out some of our own ideas awhile back, we initially conceived of the exact same combination of the Earth/male symbol that you used, and this looks very much like what we came up with in #44: a Pan Am-esque globe with the male arrow. The color choices you use resemble Pan Am as well (as a side note, in the 1960's and 1970's the Pan Am logo was the 2nd most widely recognized trademark in the world, with CocaCola being the 1st).
What we discovered is that it was difficult to effectively combine the earth/male image with the band name. You've done a pretty good job, but still the overall effect looks a bit jumbled. Also, the blue and white are good together but perhaps a little too cheerful (see our latest comment on the front page). If you have some additional ideas that feature the earth/male symbol image and fit in with the words in a cleaner and more powerful way, we would definitely be interested. More masculine color choices might also help, and perhaps sticking with two colors instead of three.
Killian here, I like this entry allot. I'm hoping you can play around with this idea. We love Pan Am 60's , james bond, I spy etc. meaner the better. Thanks k
Hi! sorry I haven't responded - I am working on revising the logo, but I think I maybe going in the wrong direction. So you're basically looking for something that looks like it could have come straight from a 1960's 007 movie, right? Thunderball, Dr. No, Goldfinger, all that good stuff?
Bob the bass player here: Not straight out of a 1960's movie--that's merely a starting point, and you already have that with #44. The Earth and male symbol are great together but it seems difficult to find a way to make it work with the band name. We also thought of using a music note, such as a half note, in which the notehead is the earth and the note stem is the male symbol, but while that seemed like a clever idea, it proved to be a bigger challenge than we thought.
But to reiterate, our hope is to reference the stylistic touches of, say, 1960's pop culture (among other suggestions from our contest brief) in creating an original design that has a timeless quality rather than a strong retro look.
Hi, I had to withdraw #58 - it was just too close to another design. I'll keep working on this concept though and see if I can come up with anything before the submission deadline. Thanks, Tara
Hi, I submitted 4 different entries with different color combinations, but logotournament took them down because I submitted them incorrectly (I put two options per submission, instead of one option per submission). So, if you want to see them go to : http://www.taragleason.com/lmoe.html Thanks, Tara
Hi- So for the guy, did you want me to add one or two colors, or subtract a color and make it a silhouette? Is there something about the style that you wanted to change?
