the combination of blue/teal and brown/chocolate brown are a favorite of mine, but am open. i like white over black. i like grey.

i am not a fan of red, yellow, or purple.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
to give you an example of the type of lodging location, check out gvguesthouse.com. i like their logo but not as a stand alone. i like a contemporary font, placement, and style. should be able to be large enough to place on a flag outside the home as well as small enough to print on business cards and perhaps other marketing trinkets.

Do you have any images of the building/grounds/rooms you can post or link? Many thanks!

Unfortunately I do not. The rooms are not quite ready. Allow me to describe a bit. The home itself is a red brick row home on a tree lined street. There is a black iron fence in the front. There are three levels. Inside, each floor has 14 foot ceilings. Lots of unique moldings, original hardwood floors, 12-foot pocket and hanging doors separating every room. Kitchen is loaded with stainless steel appliances, modern features, granite countertops, spacious. Dining table is black and round seating 6, with a very modern round black and silver light fixture. Tan carpeting covers both staircases to the second and third floors. The bedrooms have the original woodwork, painted white, with maple hardwood floors, small shag beige rugs, contemporary linen curtains hang from floor to ceiling windows. Lots of natural light. King sized beds surrounded by maple night stands with chrome handles. the headboard consists of material covered blocks than line the wall stretching way above the bed. Chrome based light fixtures with fluorescent bright shades rest on each. A stainless steel desk on caster wheels is in the room, and there is a flat screen television mounted on the wall next to the fireplace. Here is a link to a picture of a room for which it is being modeled.

Hope this helps a bit.

i know I referenced the other website that I like, but don't want to get caught up on their logo. They mix the letters in order to create a symbol. I posted the link to the other website to demonstrate an example of the business, not so much the logo. Hope that provides some clarification.

To #1 through #4 - Thanks for responding. After seeing it in a logo, I don't think I'm a fan of the letters creating the logo. Or perhaps it's the box that surrounds them. Doesn't seem elegant enough. I think i prefer a different font style for the text. As for colors, i know I said blue and brown, but I was referring to more of a teal and brown. The colors displayed don't seem to wow me. I'm open to other suggestions. Obviously, what I thought i liked, I don't like so much in a logo, hence why I'm not in the design industry and need your help! HELP!

Regarding #1 through #4, I'll try to come up with something else. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get a bunch of other designs soon!

I like the different colors, but the logo isn't what I'm going for.

Just some additional thoughts.... I can't stress enough the "contemporary" and "elegant" look and feel that appeals most to me. lower case letters for example might be better. fine lines. some curves.

#15 - I like the elegant look, and the lines, however the colors don't seem to work. And it's lacking a contemporary feel. The biggest issue is that this will be placed on a website and on stationary and cards, etc. and the color background would require that color be used througout. Looking for a white background to be used. Thanks.

#28 and #29 - Need white background. And in that one, I like the connecting of the letters, but they are a bit too connected - kinda blends too much and is a little challenging to decipher. I do indeed like the lower case "the" and the smaller font "on". Could the words "guest house" be stacked, with the "on" the same, but have the word Park in a larger cursive style? having this incorporated into one of the other logos presented might be nice as I do like that approach.

#7.... thanks for participating.

I like the positioning of the letters for "guest house". i also like the use of lower case letters for the word "the". not so sure of the color. not sold on the letter logo. as for the word "park" that might look good if it was somehow threaded in cursive around the words "guest house" or something like that. so as to show some curved lines and make everything a bit softer. hope that helps. this is more difficult than i thought it was going to be.

I've asked several friends to begin judging and weighing in on the entries to the contest. Some of their feedback is provided below for each of the entries received. I've also extended the contest by one week. I will provide as much feedback as possible so that the designers have information to work with and can make alterations. And just because I move your entry into the "not interested" column doesn't mean I'm not interested in your work. I'll still submit feedback in the comments section so that you know where my thoughts are, but I will try and keep the ranking to a smaller number. Thanks to everyone for their efforts. Some very cool stuff being created.

#7 - People seem to like the blocking of the letters of the words "GUEST HOUSE" and how they are stacked. I'm kinda leaning toward this more in lieu of having them stretched on one line. But I'm not a fan of the letter logo. And it seems to dwarf the lettering. And as you will see in one of the other comments, I'm trying to get away from my original request of using brown and teal. I still like them together but the logo doesn't support the look as well. I've been impressed with the color combinations that people have come up with.

#19, #20, and #27 - A little too busy. Too many components to this logo. I do like the alignment of the "the guest house on park" in #19 a great deal!!!!

#16 - A friend of mine really liked your entry. I wasn't necessarily sold on it right away to be honest. But I also couldn't put my finger on it. First, the blue background won't work. I need it to be white. It would need to be more crisp for me to appreciate. It seems to be a little too "artsy". I'm probably just not a fan of the font perhaps. The curly lines on the bottom are not contemporary in my perspective. Though I do like the free form line above. The comments were positive from others, but the concensus was that it was too feminine.

#25 and #26 - Very nice. Elegant. As you can see from my other comments, I'm not tied to the original colors I referenced but I appreciate you adhering to them initially. I like the strategic use of lower case lettering. But I don't get a contemporary feel from it, and I feel as though it's somewhat plain. Kinda like it could be used by any other guest house out there. It's very "hotelish".... Thanks.

To ALL -
Some really good feedback I received from a friend is that the word "park" should be more greatly emphasized. His comment was that "guest house" could be anywhere, but that it's on "park" makes a statement, sets it apart and makes it sound more expensive and nicer than perhaps others. As such, I'm going to re-look at the logos that are out there and see who might have considered this. For those logos that i have ranked fairly high, might you consider making alterations to see how this might be explored.

Thanks.

#92 - Wait - why did you go back to upper case letters? just curious. I like the lower case much better at least for 'the guest house on' Park might be in uppercase, or cursive to emphasize. didn't notice at first. i'm having a difficult time figuring out which of those i like the best - #92 or #86.
