What We Do
Our current web site is http://www.siliconvalley-codecamp.com/ and we plan on doing a new design for it after getting a new logo. The theme of the site is "Always Free" but don't necessarily need that incorprated in the logo. "code" as in computer code. It's a very technical show covering lots of differing "coding" technologies. See our sponsor list to get an idea of the kinds of companies that support us. We want the logo to possibly be fun, innovative. We also don't want to have to create a new logo every year, but if we could easily change it in photoshop, that would be best. That is, no fancy design element for the year.

Color Preferences
It would be nice to be similar to our current siliconvalley-codecamp.com site but not necesary.

Logo Designer
Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ You, the Client, are very important! Your active participation is the single greatest factor influencing this contest. Active participation by you, the Client, helps you get the logo design you want!
~~ What's active participation? It's updating the brief with more information for Designers to work with as the contest progresses, providing feedback to Designers on their entries when they're submitted, and ranking designs at least once a day.
~~ When you provide feedback to Designers, you increase the chances of getting the logo you want. More feedback = better results!
~~ Leave private feedback by clicking on a design. Feedback will be made public upon contest completion.
~~ Rank designs at least once each day -- this will encourage Designers to submit more entries!
~~ Ranking prevents your contest from going idle! Active contests attract more Designers.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed. Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Please note: if you're asking for a design that will require several hours to create, to attract Designers willing to invest that amount of time the prize should be at least $400-$500. All "Character" style logos fall into this category.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested." We'd like to know what you don't want so we can give you the design you do want.
~~ The first phase of the contest is the "Open" phase, and everyone can submit during that time.
~~ After your contest's initial "Open" phase closes, it will enter the "Top 5" phase; only the top 5 ranked Designers will be able to submit revisions at that time.
~~ The "Top 5" Designers are the first 5 Designers in a contest, not the first 5 designs.
~~ When "Top 5" ends, the "Judging" phase begins. The Designer of the 1st place design will be the only Designer who can submit revisions at that time.

Fun is probably not a good word. People come to our codecamp event to learn, see old friends, and enjoy themselves.

I'm not that impressed with #3 but it was better than the others.

regarding #1, I'm not sure we will be able to have the words "Silicon Valley Code Camp" built in to the Logo. That may just be too much. I'm still open to new ideas.

I'm really hoping for more creativity around the theme of the event. that is, big technical learning event, lots of people meeting, free for attendees, etc. I like the initials but it does really bring much regarding what the event is all about. I'm hoping we can do something besides just initials. Personally, nothing jumps to mind so I am counting on you all!

Like the keys in #34 and the lettering in #24. I'm worried that the words will be too small when put on a web site or other place. I don't want people to have to take out a magnifier to be able to read silicon valley code camp.

On #77 we really like that it's 2 computers rather than 1 indicating people working together. Many people (again on #77) did not recognize the keys because newer computers don't have keys like that and certainly mobile does not. Also, we ant #SVCC not SVCC so people recognize it as our twitter handle. We want to emphasize code camp more than silicon valley.

On #24, amp up code camp (we want to emphasize "code camp" more than "Silicon Valley".

On #44, we are worried that the tent does not have enough detail to be interesting and also we are worried it will feel old after not too long.

on #45 we like the clean simplicity but it does not bring out anything (theme wise) for the event (like keyboard, mouse, etc.)

for #77,#24, we would like to see those in black backgrounds. Our current web site is more black bacground which we will likely keep unless something really compelling comes up. We will also want to be able to tweak the logo later to have a white background if appropriate.

Hi Suke,
I'm leaning favorably toward #98 but still have reservations. I've sent it around for opinions. Is there a way to emphasis "Code Camp" and de emphasize (not completely, its still important) "Silicon Valley"

Also, somehow make #svcc more obvious? (but not going crazy).

Sorry for the vague feedback. If I knew what I wanted exactly I'd say. I'm hoping for inspiration that makes me go "wow, that's it".

Hi Suke, Makinson and Others,

I think you can all tell I'm not closing in on a design I'm excited about. I sent out the short list of logos we have come up with to 10 "customers" of our web site and consistently they all said DO NOT do things like keyboards, phones, tablets, etc. I apologize for the misdirect there. I personally like those but apparently the consensus is that it is "cheap" and "gimicky".

Makinson's #45 has come back with stronger reviews than others. So, we need to go more in the #45 direction.

thanks
