What We Do
This logo is for an iPhone and iPod touch App in which users will apply fun & interesting photographic effects to their own pictures--essentially applying the "Finishing Touch" on their photos.
Unlike competing apps, instead of applying "filters" or other camera-based effects, we are focusing on the paper-based effects -- working to make the photos look more "paper-realistic" in various ways.
Effects include: Tin-Type, Daguerreotype, Polaroid, Crumpled Paper, "Grunge"/Rough Borders, Realistic Picture Frames, and Photo Album Pages.
Once they apply the effect, they can save the image to their library and/or email it to their friends.

Color Preferences
The logo needs to have a black background. We don't have a specific color in mind, but anything that feels "photographic" will be good. It should be colorful without being tacky.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
The logo image needs to be used in two very specific formats. The first is a square image, to which Apple will apply a "glass button" highlighting effect. That image will be used in the App Store and as the button on the device home screen to launch the App.
The second image will be a small rectangle, and will be in the header bar of the App itself (viewed only on the mobile device).
Probably the best way to do this would be to have a very strong, exciting icon that can be used as the square image (without any text), and then to add the name "Photo Finish" to one side of the icon to make the full "rectangular" version.
So...bottom line -- please make a logo with a separate, unique icon that can be used independently, and then when the icon is used with the name, it is placed to one side (rather than above or integrated into the text).
It may also be helpful to visit the iTunes App Store (using the iTunes desktop Application) and view some competing icons -- this will give you an idea of what "works" and what doesn't within these very specific constraints).
