In addition to the full logo, the winner must provide a matching toolbar button for my web application. Specifically, a toolbar button that conveys the logo brand but is tiny and compatible for use as an icon on web sites and in the Internet Explorer 8 and later accelerator feature.

The logo is the emphasis. Definitely want a logo that will stand on its own and can be used as an icon on other web pages, like other icons for social services served at most news web sites. I will want a match the logo with the name for the web site masthead and other promotional material though. I like the pairing of the name and urgent need to know tagline.
To clarify, at this point the company is LinkableNews, the NewsAccelerator is a product. At some point the NewsAccelerator may become the company identity depending on marketing research.
