For the Logo style, entry 11 logo with lN has the right emphasis on the N which i like. is there a way to imply the N (news) is linked, rather than the letter L? Maybe links to other small Ns?
For a masthead style, i like 7. ties logo, company name, value and product very well.
I like the logo for entry 15 best. Can you think of a way to differentiate the connected blocks to convey more and different? maybe alternate colors. what do you think about a + symbol to show more?
Are you thinking 16 over 15 because of the contrast?
Liking the arrangement of shapes, but may look better if it were lightweight, cleaner. Can you make it lighter by adding color to borders and making the N blue and filling all of the boxes with white?
I Posted before you submitted 84 and 85. How about N and large box being traditional news Black/blue theme and linked boxes being new news brighter color theme?
We've done some A B testing and we feel that your logo gives a good impression of the value proposition. Can you work with colors, fills and outlines to give it a more professional feel?
Mike, can you tone down the color? maybe even 2-color to make it less busy? And remember, big box means old media to me and Linkable News gives the brighter alternatives. Can your next round have each version with/without the N for A B testing that? thanks, Tom
Mike, I was hoping for simple, you were closer with entry 15. Current iterations are complicated with borders, blocks, lines and letters. Still lots of overlap in color theme between big block and small blocks. Only 3 small blocks not the simplification i had in mind. Thanks, tom
Mike, can you take entry 128 and make the light blue box fill and the "linkable" font color the same color as the green in entry 117? Question, is the wave across the large "news" an opacity effect or 2-colors? Thanks, Tom
Mike, Immediate feedback, people are liking the Lime Green and it is a great color to brand with.
When the logo is shrunk down to favicon size it is too dark to stand out. I liked 2-color because it conveyed value proposition and was serious and tech, but it might get lost among other buttons I might compete with. I was steering you to contrast between a darker big frame and the smaller; what do you think about all of the boxes being green? Also 108 is much lighter, do you think it would work with green instead of blue frame?
The cool thing about EPS (vector) format, is its relatively easy to change colors regardless of what you might pick now, . . .just FYI if you weren't aware. M
Mike, I have been agonizing over the color combinations and realized that it is actually a great design feature that lets me pick the best and brightest combination for the favicon format and then create color schemes within the web site that differentiate pages by topic or user group.
How many colors are in the palete? I am thinking of making a matrix with a horizontal axis for color palete and vertical axis with design feature (box outline, N, Big box fill, little box a,b,c fill and outline) to manage the myriad options.
One last question, do you have the software to give this a 3-D effect, rotate it and add reflection for a masthead version? Would this design even look good in 3-D? That high production value of one of the other entries is what was making the choice difficult.
Mike, Immediate feedback: tile effect in 149 with light blue border preferred over 148, really like white outlining of small squares. Can you show 3-d with 2 colors in 138? Marketing advisor is saying I don't want to mess with logo color but use variations but change background, ala USAtoday.com what color backgrounds do you think would work with this? can you show a couple? Alternate color patterns has generated a lot of conversation. Thank you for being so responsive. tom
