#6 - We like the overall look but not sure about the diamond. Need a different shape.

Thanks to all so far. We have deliberately been keeping a bit quiet in the hopes of getting a dynamic, free flow of ideas. Although green and white are what we currently use (and referenced), we are open to other color suggestions (with or without green) so please feel free to think broader early in the process. We are looking to you all as the experts to help us define our concept, so please don't necessarily get locked in to what we currently have (i.e. the box), or what we are commenting on this early, but here are our thoughts so far. We like #6, but it may be because of familiarity, it is very similar to our current letterhead design - again we need something other than the diamond though. We like the strong graphic nature of the box in #10-12, but it reads too much like a "W" instead of an "M." Also, graphic or abstracted imagery are a possibility (there seems to be some allusion in a few of these, which is a good start), some possibilities: abacus, ledger paper, graphs, stock ticker, etc. (please think of others).
We need several more concepts to help us focus on a direction. Please feel free to submit "loose" concepts as well. We are capable of taking "sketch" ideas as starting points for discussion.
Thanks again for your effort so far.

Some more input: we like upper and lowercase for the words; we like the two words compressed with a different color for each - #5, #2 - maybe we can vary the size, slightly, to emphasize "Accountant"; we like the basic font in #10; we like "Personal bookkeeping..." right justified and under the word "Accounting" - #5; we like the abacus idea in #18 - but it should be more abstracted. We want the image to be more graphic - it needs to work as well in print as on the web. A strong simple graphic that alludes to financial imagery is best. Again, feel free to try other colors or variations on the green.

Thanks again for all the effort. Some great progress here. We like the stylized pen in #30, as well as the incorporation of all the font comments we made previously. The square seems to make everything feel a bit "heavy." We'd like to see color or graphic options that feel "lighter / sleeker." Also like the incorporation of the pen in #28, but it seems to makes the font a little too heavy. The abacus in #25 is nice, but a bit too literal.
Thanks again.

Some things to consider: elegant; modern but timeless (don't want the logo to feel dated in a few years); sleek, "light" (the square makes some of these feel too "heavy"); we need something that reads well in print as well as on screen.

A note on ranking, so as not to offend anyone. Since we are new to this process we have been doing some research on ranking. We want to let everyone know how we are approaching it, in case you are wondering why you are ranked in the top 3 and then so much further down. We are ranking unique concepts in the top 10 - beyond that we will rank as many entries as we can, but after ranking 11 we are not being too specific (not enough time). So please don't take offense if you have a top ten design and a similar design towards the bottom, it is not a reflection of the actual quality of the lower ranked entry. If this is not an appropriate approach please let us know, but it seems to be the way the forum suggests we approach it.
Thanks again to everyone that has submitted, we really appreciate ALL the entries.

Dear Farren, you have a great attitude and approach on ranking, and in fact it's very viable way to do so, concept's version tech stuff...

Anyway you think works for you.
Good Luck on your selection

Thanks to all of you for some incredible designs! We have extended the contest by 2 days, not because of any lack of great designs, but because we didn't realize how many great things would come towards the end of the process. We want to have a couple of weekdays to review and discuss these (it is harder to discuss with colleagues the merits of these great designs over the weekend). Sorry if it causes any problems for anyone, we just want to make sure we give everyone, the designers as well as ourselves, the most opportunity.
Thanks again for all of your terrific efforts!

JR2 it doesn't have to be litteral, if you're designing a logo for ..say a dental service company the logo doesn't have to be a tooth, duh..

Well, I guess I ought to explain...
See, it depends on what your target audience is. And as a designer you have to know that a logo can be classic or modern, it has to convey a message. A quill pen is classy, it conveys trust and professionalism.
PS: And the industry specified in the brief is NOT IT, its financial and insurance

Just a quick update. We are finalizing our selection, and doing the last of the due diligence on our end. We have narrowed the selections and anticipate making a final decision tomorrow. Thanks for all your effort, and your patience - you've all done so much work, and we've got so many great choices, that we want to make sure we get this last part right.
Thanks again.

Thanks to everyone for all the great entries. We had a tough time making a final decision, since there were so many great designs to choose from, but we have finally finished the process. We would like to send one last "thank you" to everyone who participated.
