This is for my personal blog. I am the CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers. In addition, I am also speaking a good deal. I want a logo to go with my name. I also want the final output to be in the native Photoshop or Illustrator file format.
Based on my “2009 Reader Survey,” my typical reader is a male between the ages of 31–50. He has at least a college degree and household income of $70,000 or more. He lives in the U.S., most likely in those states where evangelical Christians are a higher percentage of the population. He is an active Christian, attending church at least once a week, and his faith is very important to him.
My typical reader is extremely committed to personal growth and is a heavy book reader. He reads most of my blog posts and is especially interested in those related to the topic of leadership—probably because he serves in a leadership capacity in his local church. He also avails himself of other forms of learning, such as conferences and webinars, and intends to pursue additional formal education.
My typical reader is very active in social media, including Facebook and Twitter. This same reader demonstrates a need for self-expression, as evidenced by the fact that he has a blog and posts to it at least once a week. He also has a book idea that he hopes to write and get published.
Color Preferences
I want a logo to go to the immediate left of my name as it now appears on my blog at michaelhyatt.com. I am not wishing to change that part of my branding. I simply want to add a squarish mark to the left of this that can stand alone when I don't have room for an entire horizontal logo.
As a result, I would like to stick with the deep blue (#000033) gray, and white color scheme of my blog.
I think the challenge here is to keep it simple and build on my existing branding. Whatever is designed must fit with what I already have. (My new blog design has only been in place since February. I am not prepared to do something that is a radical departure.)
As I am looking at these, I'd like to see the logo integrated into my current logo on my blog, like #30. It's difficult to evaluate it without see it in context. Thanks.
Wow. I'm impressed with what I am seeing. I am moving my daughter into her dorm room today, so I won't get a chance to comment specifically or rank these until Monday morning. Thanks to everyone who is participating.
One more idea: what about a crest made up of a "talk bubble" that is kind of rectangular in nature like the comment bubble I use on my site to indicate the number of comments a particular post has. It could either have my initials inside the bubble or maybe stylized a silhouette of a person. The "talk" part of the bubble (the descender) could be pointing to my title ("CEO, Thomas Nelson Publishers").
I am trying to learn the ropes here and understand the proper etiquette. For example, I am seeing things I want to combine, but they are by two different designers. Hmmm.
Please take a moment to review the "Ranking and General Tips" as compiled by one of our designers (Bugy) https://logotournament.com/forum/general_discussion/914. Also, Please consider ranking the designs rather than eliminating the points we gather are valuable even if we do not win your contest. thankls
