What We Do
We are creating a web service that makes reading and working with SEC filings easier.
The SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) filings are financial report documents that the US public companies are obligated to file periodically and also on certain events. The 10-K form is one of the most important since it contains the yearly report. Still, there are many other forms like the 10-Q which is the quarterly report.
The SEC filing reports are very long and complex documents. The purpose of our software is to facilitate the process of reading them and making it easier even for non-professional investors to understand the data.
More info on what the SEC filing here can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEC_filing.

Color Preferences
Please do NOT make navy + red. Any other options are welcome. The logo should work as black&white only (not grey-scale). Even though the full color version will be used mostly, we also need the logo to work on B&W print.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
We need the logo to be icon+text. Ideally the icon should be smartly merged/embedded with the text. The logo should work best in a horizontal layout.
Preferably the text should use an authored typography. The "Live" part should be more prominent and the "10-K" part relatively muted. This is because while the 10-K SEC filing is probably the most important one it's not the only one. To mute the "10-K" part of the logo you can play with different font weight, thickens and font face. Do not make it simply smaller or faded.
The icon is extremely important. It has to be smart and clearly communicate the industry we are in - reading financial data and reports in a convenient way. We are not looking for a trivial icon. It has to be smart and original while it has to be obvious and immediately communicate the message. A book, a sheet of paper or other trivial representations of a report and reading don't work. A bull and a lion are also not wanted. The characteristics we target are:
- Clever and original icon that clearly communicates the purpose
- Simple and obvious while not being trivial
