Our Ideas & Additional Information Easy ideas involve standard target faces, real archery equipment (not cartoonish) including either compound or recurve bows and NASP style arrows. Cross sections of a target face with equipment could be a starting point. If going for a more emblematic approach, either LHYA or "Little Hills Youth Archery" would work. A full crest might include the location, St. Charles, MO. This is a training program so an educational style crest in a sports themed emblem would be kind of cool too. That provides a large range of options, for sure. 10 years ago ss5416 Client I don't know why the ideas finally are coming ... I've only been stressing about this for the past 3 months. But the more I think about it, the more I'm liking the idea of an old school crest incorporating the archery themes. Again, not cartoon-ish bows like you see in the animated movies but more competitve style, olympic recurve or hunting compounds. Classic quivers with arrow bunches. Sounds pretty intricate. I suppose that could be problematic. These are youth to young adults ... so something along the lines of a Hogwarts, medieval look could be interesting. I haven't seen that style of artwork on logotournament but I really haven't looked that extensively. Alright ... I'll stop rambling. The work always amazes me here. You always know what I want better than I do. 10 years ago ss5416 Client Great submissions so far. A general comment for all designers about the bow artwork. rem-brand's bow is nice as it shows the detail of a modern Olympic style bow w/ stabilizer bar & sights. The figure even has a hip quiver. Nice.touch. However the figure in piraka's newest entry has better form and I like the more contemporary feel. The bow is a little too traditional, however. I like that Medi picked up on the contrasting medieval concepts but the bow style is just off. I think that style graphic may work better with other symbols in a more intricate crest as that would be more about theme representation. The string is very disproportionate to the bow. Being an archery school, that is just the picky type of thing that would be commented on. The one exception I make on that is the bow in the piraka's letter art. That just makes sense as it is clearly an extension of letter font. Nicely done.Again, really liking the artwork so far. These wonderful contrasts in style are going to make this decision very hard as they each have their strengths for different application. The kids got a kick out of the Hogwart's style crest idea. I understand that could be tricky to pull off. But they also liked the idea of the patch look. Finally, the letter art has a lot of very practical applications. 10 years ago ss5416 Client I wish we had more time. My board meeting is tomorrow night and will wrap up right before the top 5 picks are due. Rankings will likely move all the way up to the end. Submissions were all starting to follow the same pattern there for awhile with the differences mostly just in style. Was hoping to see something different. I would really like to see a play on a compound bow (hunting bow) like a Genesis or Hoyt style competition bow. I was also hoping someone would take the challenge on the Hogwarts style crest. A lot of them get entirely too gaudy and intricate but it seems like a neat concept. With a four part crest, you could mix girls and boys, recurve and compound, along with target faces and arrow quivers. I know ... there is a lot going on there. I'm not saying it needs all of that, just trying to represent as much as possible. Maybe that is a little too detailed for a logo. Hmm. 10 years ago ss5416 Client See what I was saying. http://www.deviantart.com/art/hogwarts-crest-unique-162372513Not exactly like this of course. But very cool way to get a mixture of images. Maybe this doesn't really qualify as a logo. You tell me. 10 years ago ss5416 Client Thanks for the submissions so far. This has been very fun. A late designer even squeaked in with a school crest concept. I will try my best to give individualized attention to our top 5 designers over the next 48 hours. Final judging is with my class coaches on Saturday so we will have a brief pause and we could see a completely different result from my personal rankings. Special thanks to Taylor and Allison for your valuable feedback. 10 years ago ss5416 Client I wish they had a category that let's you move the designs to the side without calling it non-interesting. They are mostly just variations that are passed on. Oh well...you get what I mean. I hate discarding any of your effort. Just trying to keep things organized. 10 years ago ss5416 Client Nicely done, indeed, designers! The feedback from the class coaches was priceless. They were just as impressed with your work as I have been. And just as torn. They all immediately saw strengths of each design an its applicability. The logo voting took way longer on our agenda than it was supposed to. A testament to the quality of your work. This lead us to question how we wanted to use the image and what we ultimately wanted to convey with the graphic. We had to pass on a couple that we really didn't want to. However, on the remaining designs, the coaches all agreed on a few enhancements and requested a 2nd round of voting. I will be in touch on the designer page and pass the 1st place position around to try to give the remaining entries enough time to submit the last few changes.I can't thank you enough. All of your designs are top notch! And any one of them would have been perfect. 10 years ago ss5416 Client As always, thanks for the experience. This was a fun contest. The coaches were blown away. In the end, the winning design demonstrated an evolution from our previous graphic purely by coincidence which helps us deliver on our theme of continuity. That was something the designers couldn't have known about but was the final influencing factor.Best of luck on your future contests. 10 years ago
