Thanks for contributing. Thanks for changing things up. Was getting a lot of very similar ideas. Biggest issue with 42 and 43 is the back arm form. Notice how the rest of the archers have their elbow back in a T position with the body. The anchor is floating too far in front as well. I'm nit picking and we can work on those things. But the design is good otherwise. I really like some of the detail in the target and the color order is right. I will submit this to the board in the meeting before top 5 designers selection.
Nicely done. You designers amaze me. This will likely be the favorite of the board. A couple minor tweaks. We need to lose the arrow point. It needs to just taper off at the end. The stereotypical point would destroy anything it hits. Not really good for youth. :) Also, the bow needs to be about a foot longer ... proportionally. And the string needs to come back closer to the face, touching the tip of the nose preferably.
Looking great. Good job on getting all of the enhancements.
I keep going back and forth on the thicker border. It is better to read ... but I don't know if I want to call that much more attention to that portion. I'll ponder more.
On the arrow tip, it needs to taper off. Like a very stubby pencil. It appears to be lopped off now.
Wondering if you could do an internet search on competition recurve to fiddle a bit with a sight. A stabilizer bar would not likely work with this graphic but that's okay. Maybe a stubby bar.
Was worried about the stubby stabilizer. Let's lose that but keep the sight. Thanks for trying out the arm guard. I prefer it without. I'll run all the combinations by the coaches on Saturday.
Other than that, we are done. If you are up for a challenge, none of the other designers attempted a competitive compound target bow. They are much more detailed with funny angles but the majority of our students shoot that style. Recurve are more elegant and classic looking so that is always a good choice. You nailed the sight so I'm hoping an Internet search would help you with a Genesis or Hoyt style competition compound bow. Probably Genesis as that is the most common for our youth. Hoyt's are just pretty.
Bah. Everything looked so nice I almost overlooked the obvious. My coaches would shoot me ... not literally ... if I missed this. The arrow is entirely too long. Need to only protrude about ... oh, let's go with 2 inches in front of the riser. Gonna get some purists mad at me about that. But should be a good compromise.
Ha!!! You got my Hoyt. Cool! I was wondering how you were going to fix the arrows. I loved the old fletchings but that wasn't going to work. You still managed to get them in. I'm going to leave you in first position for now. I will probably rotate the position around a bit after voting with my class coaches on Saturday to give the other designers an opportunity to address feedback.
The Hoyt design will go over nicely with some of them who also shoot Hoyts. But if you could submit a Genesis design between now and then, that would be icing. Wow. That intricate work had to have been a pain. Impressed!
Oh, I also mentioned before about tapering the arrow tip. Not sure if it is my resolution, but it looks completely flat. It needs a point ... just very short. 1/4 inch from the start of the taper. The length is perfect!
So much positive feedback about your design. It was always a solid contender from the start.
Positive feedback: - Excellent form - Nice attention to detail on the target - The compound bow drew favorable attention (but everyone agreed that the recurve design has a more universal appeal and fluid feel) - Cross-function design that can be incorporated into all aspects of program - Displays a professional quality
Enhancement requests - Will need to incorporate our location, St. Charles, MO into the graphic - The head/face felt a little alien. Would prefer slightly more gender neutral.
Please message me with your expected time frame so I can be sure to have your position available.
I'm thinking some gender neutral hair style ... a swoop in the front perhaps. Not too Bieber. I'll switch back to you tonight for first position. Need to give 2nd designer some time. Thanks.
Just switched back after the other designer has had a chance for updates. I dunno ... the hair thing may be cheesy. I really don't know. I just don't have artistic imagination for how to represent these things. The silhouette is a great idea to keep it gender neutral but makes any sort of detail near impossible. The hat didn't really work as it looked too much like a baseball cap (which is the most likely style) but that would totally interfere. Good try flipping it around. The other designers hat is subtle ... more of an international style as a visor but it works okay. Not thrilled with it. Tough challenge.
Excellent. And thanks for the close-up. That helped. I don't have any additional suggestions. The final vote will happen today with the winner selection this evening. Thanks for sticking this out and dealing with the vagueness!
