Our Ideas & Additional Information
This should appeal to women without being "feminine" or "frilly." Professional, but not corporate...warmer, more embracing.

Need a squarish visual element that can be used on book spines and social networking sites.

One potential visual concept is a woman (graphic/abstract) with outstretched arms, as if embracing the world, with those arms breaking the boundaries of a box. I'd love to see other ideas, too.

I love clean, crisp, graphic design and elegant (not formal) type fonts with personality. Contemporary rather than classic.

#1. Thanks so much for kicking things off! I'm excited to see where this goes.

Would love to see some brighter colors--especially yellow, purple, green and orange. Think in terms of squash, eggplant/aubergine, sage and pumpkin rather than primary colors. Thanks!

Here are links to some color palettes:

Probably the best example of the colors I’m most interested in:

Other Tuscan colors:

See the green, purple and orange:

This wasn’t what I originally envisioned, but it has a very nice, soft feel and wouldn’t mind exploring these or similar colors.

I love the variety of submissions that are rolling in and appreciate the enthusiasm for this project...keep them coming! A few general reminders/suggestions:

1. Graphic and colorful is great, but keep the design itself clean and simple.

2. I will be producing both e-books and printed books. I need a graphic element (with or without the name) that can work on a book spine. That means the graphic (in original or adapted form) must be distinguishable in one color and when printed very small.

3. I plan to have a strong online presence, so I need a graphic element (most likely separate from the name) that can be used as a profile picture on social networks. Although the design itself does not have to be square, it needs to have an element that will be distinguishable once fit into a small, squarish space.

Thanks again! Keep up the good work.

For those wishing to explore design options which are more abstract and symbolic in nature, Her Own Way embraces creativity in both the professional and personal realms. We believe that creativity encompasses:

1. Creative problem solving--an essential life and leadership skill.
2. Creative expression--most often seen in the arts and in the personal realm.
3. Creative life transformation--reinventing oneself, and becoming one's authentic and best self through intentional, creative growth.

Each of these is closely connected and overlapping in nature.

Other key concepts involve telling women's stories, shared wisdom and mentoring.

Would really love to see some additional concepts with the outstretched arms, but from the waist up so that it is more about the gesture and emotion than about a woman's body.

The mood/emotion could go either of the following ways. Both should show strength and confidence.

1. embracing--joy, warmth, enthusiasm
2. contemplation--a little quieter, more solemn

Thanks! And have a nice evening.

Thanks again to all of the designers! There were so many great concepts to work with and you have all made this a lot of fun. I appreciate your creativity and your willingness to work with direction. Narrowing this down to five designers was a challenge.

After reviewing the logos on my own and with a focus group, here’s what I’m looking for in the final design:

• Clean and simple, yet bold.
• Bright and colorful.
• Spirited, but not spiritual.
• Confident and strong, but not athletic.
• A strong graphic element that stands on its own—with or without the type.

I look forward to making a final decision soon. Thanks again to all!
