FunDesign, thanks for the comment. Where we live, many of the "Hawaii" icons are over-used by tourist industry organizations. Our thought is to stay away from these images.

We've been getting great participation with only a few days left in the competition.

Now that we've been ranking entries, some designs are starting to look similar to the top few.

I'm afraid as we favor one style and put it on top, it may limit creative and original ideas from coming in.

Our entire staff will be meeting about the logo tournament in 24hrs.

Would love to see a flood of new designs and ideas by then so we can get a good idea of what is out there.

Planning to review and discuss what's been submitted at that time.

In addition to typographical "Grace" ideas, we are also interested in icon logo designs.

Possible solutions: abstract marks, flame, wave, plant/tree, arrows, religious etc.

Couple things to emphasize going forward:

1. Simple and clean
2. Strong rather than elegant (especially with cursive fonts)
3. Still open to icon/symbol (see above note)

Our model logo is still www.kaleohouston.com for the following reasons. We like several things about this design:

1. font is unique with lots of style. not generic like a standard font
2. looks agressively written but still clean
3. underline has a subtle period at the end
4. underline is moving upward
5. simple and easy to read

One question gbchnl: Aren't you worried that your logo is going to be too close to kaleo's if designers follow your guidelines? Don't you want an original different unique logo?

Ideas keep getting better in last few days

Is it disrespectful or inconvenient to designers of we consider extending contest a few days to allow that last few good ideas to be refined?
