Our Ideas & Additional Information
PRIMARY: windmill / turbine, solar panel.
SECONDARY: compact fluorescent light bulb, fortress.
TERNARY: graphs (data providers), apple/book (education).

Since our name does not contain words such as 'renewable' 'sustainable' or 'green', we need our logo to very clearly represent us as experts in Solar and Wind Energy Systems. Also we would like to see ".org" in there somewhere small (but readable).

Assuming we like all of the top 3, we would like to arrange to purchase all of them!!
1st prize - $250 awarded by LT;;
2nd prize - $125 arranged offline;;
3rd prize - $75 arranged offline;;

Hello and big thanks to all who have contributed thus far! Just a reminder, we would really like to see all three of our color selections represented: green, blue, orange. At the very least, we would like a balance of hot and cool colors.

Hello, and thanks for the continued contributions and enhancements!

Maybe someone could explain: is it possible to purchase the top 3 designs when we are through with the contest, each for $250? Or we have to choose only one? Perhaps we could arrange something offline if it is not possible through the interface, just don't want to break any lt.com rules. Thanks!

Also - are we able to edit the text in the deliverable files? i.e. can we request .psd, etc.? we are thinking we may want to edit some of the taglines/quotes in the future.

Hi - not sure on the split winning you'd have to email Tyler the owner of the site. All files are sent to you as vector EPS files as this is the best way to reproduce the artwork so you keep everything sharp when changing sizes. There are copyright issues with supplying fonts as they would normally be outlined to avoid this issue. Any change in type though I'm sure wouldn't be an issue for the winning designer to change for you though.

The CH said $250 each. Designers get gold/silver/bronze but take home the same prize...sweet! LT's responsibility is to award the gold prize money only. The other 2 needs to be done offline.
The files sent is a vector EPS and easily readable in PS. Since most of the designers here use AI, you can ask for that file too.

Well after speaking with Tyler, this is what we are thinking:
1st prize $250 awarded by LT
2nd prize $125 arranged offline
3rd prize $75 arranged offline

We will also be looking to commission a package of images/graphics/icons/buttons etc. from the winning designers for use in various locations around our website.

How does that sound?

As far as EPS/AI, I was hoping for the actual editable file (PSD or otherwise) so we could 1. change tagline text, and 2. add a small graphic to distinguish different areas of focus - e.g. small 3d bar chart for the data area, an apple/book for the education area, etc.

seems a bit much to ask for edits after the prize has been awarded.

OK - I have not worked with Illustrator (I use Photoshop) and so I was unaware that AI or EPS were editable. I thought they were just vector output files, thanks for the explanation.

the problem with adding the tagline later is that I am horrid at choosing fonts :\ especially if it needs to be consistent with another font.

the .com domain is an energy drink so we want to distinguish ourselves.

Just an idea before logging out for the night: Although we really like what we have seen so far, we would like to see, for a contrast, some icons that are not single contained images. Sometimes it gets a little busy to overlap many differing ideas. If you would please experiment with several simple, separate images, either free standing or in a border, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Here are some links to help introduce more definition into the wind turbine blades. Possibly through shaping, shading, or both.
They have subtle curves that help catch the wind, and also a taper into the hub, which is attached to a cylindrical tower:

As we have entered the final 3 days of the contest, DESIGNERS, please take note of the TOP 8 ranked LOGOS. Those LOGOS tell a story. Our company needs designation as an ENERGY STEWARDSHIP, as opposed to an renewable energy distribution company or dealer. -- Thank you all who have contributed excellent design concepts. We want to be clear about our vision to assist all of you with the final 3 days of the contest. We can not use LOGOS that are ABSTRACT, but need LOGOS that convey a cohesive message. -- Thank you again!

Thank you designers for your entries. We will be making our final decision in the next 48 hours. In the meantime, we would like to know if any of you would like to submit further ideas for the website or print media. (PDF brochures, etc.) We would be happy to draft separate agreements for your design work outside of Logo Tournament.
