Discussion

I have a preference for the colors red, white and black, as they match my existing website theme. However, yellow, blue, and dark/olive green are other good colors, since these occur quite often in the wildland firefighting community (e.g., personal protective equipment, apparatus and uniforms).

Hi Designers,

Thanks for your work during this holiday season. I really like designs that can encompass some element(s) of the "curves" in the Campbell Prediction System logo (provided in the brief), and those that have an iconic element that can be used as a desktop icon for my software product.

As you may have figured out, the name "Emxsys" is sort of an acronym from my slogan. An idea that I haven't seen explored yet is to treat the "EM", "X", and "SYS" elements separately.

I am assuming that the background colors and the font treatment for the slogan are things that can be tweaked in the later stages of the contest, so I'm not focusing on that right now. But if I'm wrong about this, please let me know.

FYI: Accent colors that I'm particularly fond of are yellow and black.

Thanks!

Regarding iconic elements: I uploaded a screen shot of my software to the brief in order to provide some discussion points and inspiration. (More screen shots are available on my website in the tutorial section.) In particular, you might notice that compass points, directional arrows/vectors, as well as a map/terrain viewer are featured strongly in the software.

Regarding backgrounds: Contour lines (like on a topographic map) are something I would entertain. I'm not saying I want this, just that if you want to explore that concept, or something like it, I'm open to it.

I hope this helps you out.

Hi Designers,

I want to explain some of my rankings with the hope that it will help you understand my preferences:
- I like #32 because it is clean, bold and has a unique 'X' composed of elements described in my brief and my general comments.
- I like #8 because it contains a unique "curve" as shown in my brief with some distinctive bold letters.
- I like #14 because it had a nice graphic element that can also be used in icons.

Thanks for all of your submissions thus far. This is a wonderful experience!

Thank you, Designers, for your continued refinements.
Judging between the top three or four is becoming hard.

Hi Designers,

I'm going to take a break from ranking for awhile (8-9 hours) and come back again with "fresh eyes".

Hi Designers,

FYI: I'm soliciting help from friends for the ranking, so there may be some changes while I evaluate their favorites.
