Color Preferences
Designers can overrule these guidelines as we don't have strong opinions here and are slightly non-traditional. An attention-grabbing splash of colour (eg yellow) might work nicely. Traditional healthcare colours are various shades of blue, purple, white, grey, black, green.

The background should be white.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
A successful logo should evoke 'digital/online medical training'. The digital aspect should be noticeable or stressed. A relatively simple/clean design is good.

The medical staff would be appropriate - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_of_Asclepius logos. This logo at http://www.biz-logo.com/pre-designed-14/medical-logo-design-01a.shtml might make a solid starting point.

Emphasising the digital aspect, eg with a lightbulb, icon of a speaking head, or a stylised 'e' could work well. The 'e' could potentially work into a snake staff somehow.

Discussion

#1 I like the concept of a stethoscope connected to a mouse. Feedback:

1) The current design is too long. Can the stethoscope and mouse be placed vertically? This may mean turning the half-mouse into a full mouse and coiling the cable so that the mouse is sitting upright
2) The font for eHealth is good but the training font is a bit thin and dissimilar. Can the training font be changed to something more similar?
3) The stethoscope is lacking detail Could it be more similar to http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d2/Stethoscope-2.png if possible?
4) The mouse shading is also a bit basic. Can it be made more ergonomic? For inspiration, not worrying too much about the detail, a shape similar to http://tutorialqueen.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/photoshop-optical-mouse-logo-stock-photo26.gif

#3 Thank you but I don't like the initial image. However, I would definitely welcome alternative designs.

1) #8 The solid-shaded, two-colour apple seems appealing visually than an outline-only apple. A refinement of the original #1 'outline' would be quite interesting.

2) #1, #8 The new stalk used in #8 looks good to but the actual fruit shape in both #1 and #8 is not apple-like enough. It seems slightly top-heavy and resembles a heart. Keeping the stalk attached and using an outline should be distinguishing enough, but more in line with the proportions used in other apple logos like http://www.google.com.au/search?q=apple+logo with a thicker base.

3) #8 The green plus symbol doesn't strike me as very medical and making it red, ie a red cross, wouldn't work as there is already tight ownership over the red version. I'd like to see the plus symbol replaced with something else.

Great work so far! I have some general feedback here for everyone:

1) Non-apple logos are encouraged at this point. Apples aren't specific to health-care and Apple is already a famous company. Our brief has suggestions.

2) The general trend in these logos is toward broad medical logos. Please try to ensure that your logo evokes 'online medical'. An e or other digital mark suggested in our brief is very suitable.

3) To save everyone time, we'd like to bring up some designs to avoid. Please try not to use the following:
a - The + symbol. Its no good as it's protected by the Red Cross
b - Snakes. They're not associated with health care unless wrapped around a staff.
c - Light bulbs. Are not good at evoking online

4) If you use the e in the logo, please make sure that the company name is still clearly reads 'eHealth'. Great e-based logo for 'Health Training' is no good. I understand that some compromise may be needed to make the logo work, eg you may need to play with the positioning or have e in two places.

Final request - anyone want to try a computer mouse logo?

Thanks for all the mouse logos. I think we're all sorted for those and would be interested in some non-mouse designs from here on.
