What We Do
This user-friendly health-based social networking site allows people (targeting parents of younger children) to see what's going round in their communities so that they have a better idea of what contagious disease they (or their family) may have caught or be at risk of catching and how others have dealt with the it.

Our Ideas & Additional Information
Check out the two uploaded docs. The homepage one is, obviously, the homepage. The Sickscreen1 is the first screen that someone who clicks on "Feeling Sick" might see. The logo with the question-mark-man was a "better than nothing" option. We want parents of youngsters to feel that this site is for them, yet we don't want to alienate anyone as the appeal of the site is meant to reach across a number of demographics.

Discussion

Hi All,

We've had a little discussion, and have decided that while we will probably often use the What's Going Round name with the logo, we'd prefer it if the imagery could stand apart as well. That's not to say we'd absolutely reject something that uses the name in a slick way, but having it in there will probably make selection less likely.

As an example, entry #2 gives us the ability to use the image without the full "What's Going Round" name. Entry #1 does not.

Using "WGR" in the logo would be OK.

And we're not tied to the idea of having ".com" in there. It's not a "bad" thing - it's just not that important to us.

Thanks,

We considered saying "no letters or words" in the logo, but we didn't want to constrain designers too much. That said, what we are really after, unless you have a totally novel idea around words or "WGR", is an icon that is instantly identifiable as the WGR brand that represents any combination of health, community, sharing, and piece of mind. One of the possible tag lines we've considered is "you are not alone" as in 'other people have gone through what you are going through and can help'

Specifically, the catch-phrase in example #4 ends up being too small to use in many cases. However we like the circular, flowing feel around "WGR"

So, unless you got something that you would brag about around letters, try to stay with more of an iconic approach.

Thanks!

Hi All,

#6 and #5 are getting close with the iconic aspect. #6 is high ranked because the icon conveys the feeling of not being alone and has the circular thing going. #7 is cool, but only conveys the "going around" concept and may be a little confusing when small.

Keep em coming!

Thanks

Hi All,

Take notice of #14, that is getting close to what we want. We've left #6, #10, and #15 unranked because those are iterations that got to #14. We like it because it is distinctive and communicates people sharing and helping with a flowing circular feel. Only one letter based logo is ranked because it conveys the flowing circular feel and is distinctive enough in how the letters are used that it might be quickly recognizable. We provided the information that a possible tag-line is "manage your health, share your knowledge" to inform how you create the logo and what it should convey, not for that tagline to be used in the logo. The text becomes too small to be meaningful. By the same token, a logo of "What's Going Round" is too heavy on text, in general, and is not what we are looking for right now. Having "What's Going Round" above, below or around the logo is fine, we just don't want the defining part of our logo to be the text itself.

To reiterate, we are looking for a sense of sharing, helping, community and connnectedness in a fun, distinctive icon-based logo. It is possible to have a "WGR" based logo, but it still needs these elements just mentioned.

Thanks

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your entries so far. We're liking what we're seeing, but we've decided to extend the contest another week to see if we can get some more entries.

Sorry it was done last minute. We were in a meeting all afternoon and nearly didn't make it back in time to extend it.

Looking forward to seeing more great ideas!
