Victory Lap HobbiesLogo Design Contest

We are interested in designs that include the word "Hobbies" in the logo and also those which just include the words "Victory Lap" in the logo with the word "Hobbies" placed beside or below as needed. Also, we will be using the logo in decals that will be small enough to place on the hood or fenders of a 6" long slot car. We think that this might affect the design in some way. We want the logo to be as versatile as possible for fitting into spaces of various shapes and sizes.

Good to see logos coming in. So far, none of them really capture the excitement we are looking for, but they are all well rendered. If you want some inspiration go to YouTube and look at videos of drivers doing victory laps and donuts while holding the checkered flag with one hand and driving with the other. Imagine that you are the driver and how you would feel at having won a big race and try to capture that in your logo design.

We like the incorporation of the checkered flag into the logo. We would also be interested in a logo that incorporates a graphic suggesting the shape of a car along with it.

We should add that we want a logo that will show well against both a light and a dark background. We imagine this would take the form of simply putting a light or dark border around the logo as needed, but we would like the design to allow for this in some way, as it will be used in many places against backgrounds of all colors.

We will shortly be obtaining the input of several people, including our web designer, who will give us their rankings and expert input on all the entries. We will provide additional feedback based on their input. Still lots of time for additional designers to jump into the competition!

We received a sketch drawn by one of our own people. It shows the I in "Victory" as the arm and hand of a driver, dressed in firesuit and gloves, holding the checkered flag aloft as on a victory lap. We would like to see all contestants submit logo designs incorporating this idea.

Wednesday, June 18 -- We want to let everybody know we have been out of communication since Monday due to an Internet service failure. Now that our service is restored we will get on with the judging phase of the contest.

#120 is almost there. Move the word Hobbies to the right so it is not connected with the rest of the logo and eliminate the little tail from the top of the H. Also, make the place where the vertical and horizontal parts of the L connect a sharp point instead of rounded. That should do it.

#123 -- make the lower left corner of the L a sharp point instead of rounded and move the word Hobbies a little farther to the right. We're getting very close.
