The Scenic Road RV ParkLogo Design Contest

Thank you examples 1 and 2 for submitting ideas. Example #1 doesn't have enough green as requested in our write-up. The colors are very hot (like the desert, I know) and the feel is kind of lonely, not the fun place we want to strive for. Example #2 We like the shades of green and the predominant cactus, but still no sense of our park being a fun place to visit. Birds circling overhead could have a negative connotation in a retirement community. Our initial write-up suggested a simple cactus character. We're not married to that idea, but just a thought of how to incorporate a feeling of a fun happy place. If you have other ideas of how to add fun to the equation, we'd love to see them.

Entry #3: That's the spirit! I think I'd like to see eyes. We may wish to use the character in the park in different ways and having eyes we can alter to change expression would be useful. Also, he's a bit hairy for our taste. Thanks.

Thank you Yaia, could you start with #9 and switch it to the green palette used in 11/12/13 and then use the brown palette from #10. Still thinking over all the font variations you gave us. Loved the use of rocks to hint at shoes (at least that's what I saw). Clever.

Example 14/15: Like these better than earlier idea, prefer the green in #15, but still not a character we can relate to - can you give us a happier expression? Thank you for trying again.

Example #16: We really like a lot about your design. The hill view of the road is awesome and love the three shades of green you used to make the cactus stand out 3D. He looks round and not flat. The black outline really makes him "pop" too. The font is a nice choice. Kind of western, but not serious. If we choose your design, will we be able to find this font easily for other signage in our park? We aren't crazy about the sheriff idea and would really like to see eyes. We appreciate you getting involved with our contest.

Example #17: Nice work. The hint of background with the vanishing point was a nice idea and the cactus character has a nice face with large enough eyes that he could be given different expressions at different times. Three shades of green gives him a nice roundness and the cactus "texture" is really nice. Also liked the actual shades of green you chose. Not crazy about the font. Perhaps you could give us some other choices on handling the words part of the logo. Thank you.

Example #21 has a lot to like but maybe too much. Seems a little too much going on although the artwork is nice. Can we ask you to simplify things a bit. thank you for participating.

example #32 and #33: Thanks for your ideas. We all LOVE your facial features and really like the slight curve to the road (scenic roads in real life usually do, right?). We also like your font, second only to example #16. We have mixed opinions at our end on the introduction of blue to the color scheme. Like the cactus texture, but not happy with the shading application. Thank you for participating. Would love to see your cactus guy again.

example #34 ,35, 36: Really great, fun, comical. We like the addition of the pale blue to the backdrop. Its subtle and non-competing. The lizard on the rock is priceless and has stirred a lot of conversation. We like the facial features on both characters and the improved grounding on the cactus is noticed too. The shape of the head is bothersome to us. The flat top and the exaggerated indenture above the cheek are too extreme. We realize you are going for comic appeal, but would like to see some change there. Your font is our favorite. Thanks again.

Thanks to all for the accepted suggestions to design changes. We are really pleased with our top ten and it is getting more and more difficult to rank these. We're asking for opinions of friends and associates and considering their feedback now too.

We are in the middle of moving ourselves to Arizona and closing escrow on the RV Park June 1. We are a bit overwhelmed with all that involves and have no clear consensus yet on a winner, so we're taking the extension option to buy a little time to make our final decision. We will continue to check the tournament daily and provide feedback. Thank you for your patience and talented entries.
