These are great! I think you are onto something here. Can you try some things for us?
1) Go with the color scheme from #80 (Red Metrics, and multi color flower/water spring) - and go with the font from #83, and keep the flower/water spring above the M.
2) Same as above, but move the flower/water spring above the "i" in spring, but rotate it so that it is pointing up and to the right a bit.
3) Perhaps try other combinations with the water pointing up and to the right above the i - for example with your two color theme.
This might be a very bad idea, but what do you think about modifying #102 so that instead of the drop inside of the G, you make it a root system? I realize you intended the three colored drops to be a water shoot, but part of me sees it more as a sprouting plant. Therefore, maybe making the whitespace in the G a root system might make sense. Just an idea, may be a bad idea :)
#103 - oh... here is an idea, maybe keep the sprout where you have it here in the "P", and then put one more drop of green water over the "i" in spring as if some shot really far (and also is used as the dot in the "i")?
#119 - very cool. Perhaps it would look better with "Spring" regular font instead of bold? (yes, I know, I'm the one that originally suggested it be bold :) )
We like the splash over the "i", as in #97 - so let's iterate from there. Changes that we want to still play with in the little time we have left: - in general, it is a bit too feminine for us - any ideas on how to make it less so? colors? font? - a couple of the guys on our team not crazy about the font choice still - other ideas there? - can you try a vertical stack of Spring and Metrics instead of the two words side by side? Perhaps something like #58
I have ideas on how i can make it less feminine and will also provide other typefaces shortly, i just have to get back to my workstation, in a couple of hours. I can still submit revisions in judging mode if i'm ranked first so no need to worry about time pressure. Thank you! Alex
Our team is met and discussed the various options you've presented. We believe we're pretty close. Using #174 as the closest example of what we want, here's what we'd like to polish up:
- The typeface for "spring" ... it's still somewhat flat. The "petals" are great, and "metrics" below looks good and strong. But the "spring" part lacks zip. Can you try a few different typefaces here? Or tinker with the leg weight or tracking ... or tweak the type in any other way you'd like, so long as it's a bit more lively.
- Color for "spring" ... it's a very muted, saturated blue-gray, and I think it's too flat and doesn't quite play right with the other elements. I might be tempted to go jet black with that type. It might provide better contrast with the petals and with "metrics."
- Can you slightly reduce the size of the petals? We're not sure this will bring the desired effect, but we're hoping to make "spring" more prominent and think the petals might be competing with it.
- We'd be interested in seeing a few variations with the petals as styled in #168.
In general, I think we're pretty close. We're not looking to make any dramatic changes at this point. But if you can show us a variety of options with the slight adjustments above, we think there could be a winner there.
Hi Thanks for the detailed feedback. I've submitted a few more options in the directions you mentioned. I think the black ready does the trick in creating a better contrast with the colored drops. However a darker shade of mid to high saturated blue would also work. I'm at home now and don't have my font collection here, but I can upload more unique typefaces (and worth customizing) in the morning. In the meantime you can narrow it down and let me know afterwards.
We like the font of "spring" in #183. The major changes we would like are:
- use the splash drops colors from #173, and the color of the "METRICS" from #173 as well.
The other change is, we feel like we went a bit too far with "spring" in terms of making it stick out. Can we bring it down a notch? Is there a less bold version of that same font? or perhaps a bit lighter color, or something?
OK - we have a winner. Our team really likes #189 - that works well for us. I'll go ahead and end the contest. When you send us the raw file though, would it be possible to add in another layer that has the pointy petals though in addition to the round droplets? We'd like to have both on file if we could.
