Color Preferences
Green or a combination of Green with Blue. Please look at our existing logo/colors. What I am interested in is an updated and fresh look after having this logo/look since the late 80's. We don't have to stick to green on white necessarily.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
As stated above, we have had the same logo/colors since the late 80's. We are interested in a graphic designer seeing what they can do to update and refresh our existing logo/colors though we are open to a completely new logo that would reflect the same aspects of our existing logo we are known by. The problem we always have had with our existing logo is graphically the "RUE" part of the logo was often thought to be "RHE". That is why we ended up adding "Rue Group Inc" along side the logo so everyone knew our name because the logo didn't make that clear enough. We want the new logo to be clear on it's own regarding our name. It is important that our slogan "Innovative Landscape Architecture" is included with the logo as our name alone does not help anyone know what we do.

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you will see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested".
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for the Designers' hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

To all designers............I'd like to challenge you to at least temporarily drop the "leaf" idea, maybe even drop so much of the green color idea or at least go darker/deeper/richer in tone and I'd ESPECIALLY like to challenge all of you creative designers to take our existing logo's shape into your design ideas on how to still make "RUE" clear but keep the idea of where "inc." sits within the "E", script font still "Group" and decide where to put our tag line "Innovative Landscape Architecture". Then play with the color and I'll be open to your opinions on that. Thank you!!

We took the option to extend our contest three more days to give you the designers and us a chance to take a deep breath, reflect, and see if any more inspiration hits any of us before this contest ends. I have now ranked my top eight and you can see that I am more drawn, overall, to simplicity and probably not a leaf though I have not totally ruled that out yet due to the fact that I am a horticulturist besides a landscape architect so the leaf design in #'s 4 and 5 are still tugging at my heart strings though the creative spirit in me is pulled towards the design and artistic elements of #'s 1, 2, and 3. This has been an exciting and interesting experience and I thank each and everyone of you who has participated in developing ideas for us to consider. If inspiration wells up inside of those of you who are still in the running or in someone just now looking at what we are seeking, please feel free to share any final ideas or thoughts. Thank you.

To All Designers,

Last night I invited a few key clients of mine to review and rate the submitted logos as I felt I needed their eyes to make sure I had not gone off on a wild path during the last few days and lost my focus of what we really want our logo to represent.

I want to share with you a comment that came back from a client of mine I highly respect and that has herself a very artistic eye and talent of her own. Here's her feedback.............

December 15th, 2010, 11:40pm rue group...be careful... some of those logo images are saying: "gardening service", "pool cleaning", "i sell oranges" and others have a very pharmaceutical feel...i had trouble selecting five...none are truly representative of the cutting edge design, expertise, and traditional sensibilities found at rue group. ~ my two cents.

#104 and #128 were the only two logos she selected. Based on her feedback and some nagging doubts I have been having I would challenge any of you to ignore all that has been created thus far and show me something TOTALLY different. No blue, no blue-green, no "garden images", something representing cutting edge design with a traditional landscape architecture foundation.

We have a day and a half left. Perhaps I have lead you all astray but we have time to get back on track I think. I look forward to seeing who accepts this challenge and the results of your creative minds and talent.

Thank you!

We want to thank all of the designers who participated in our logo design contest. Thank you for all of your time, talent, and submissions. It was a very interesting process for us but in the end we knew without a doubt which logo represented our company in all the ways that we had hoped for. Congratulations to Baiskee for winning our contest, to Sculptor who was truly the only one who from the beginning captured our orginal logo in a new way, to Bluebox who reminded me of my horticultural background, and to Alexandru, Scott, Satto, Pstoev whom all tugged at my artistic side and brought out the fun and child in me. In the end Baiskee brought it all back full circle and in the end I knew his logo was the right one for all the right reasons. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you!! Thank you and best wishes to all of you for continued success in your profession. You are all truly talented in your own right. Kathryn Rue
