Color Preferences
Since I often shoot the portraits in black and white I see black and white as the basic colors for the logo ( as well as the greys in between). Feel free to add an additional color to e.g. create an eye catcher.
The logo will be printed in color (typically) as well as only in black & white.
The logo will be printed on white background (typically) as well as on black background or directly on a photographie. So the text color should be invertable.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
I often use lenses with a high aperture to shoot the portraits. So as an abstract mark I could think of an aperture or aperture like symbol.
Besides that the logo should contain the brand name "roman furrer" in bigger letters and the subtitle "pure portraits" in smaller ones. If i you use upper or lower letters I dont care, just make it look good.

Logo Designer
Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ You, the Client, are very important! Your active participation is the single greatest factor influencing this contest. Active participation by you, the Client, helps you get the logo design you want!
~~ What's active participation? It's updating the brief with more information for Designers to work with as the contest progresses, providing feedback to Designers on their entries when they're submitted, and ranking designs at least once a day.
~~ When you provide feedback to Designers, you increase the chances of getting the logo you want. More feedback = better results!
~~ Leave private feedback by clicking on a design. Feedback will be made public upon contest completion.
~~ Rank designs at least once each day -- this will encourage Designers to submit more entries!
~~ Ranking prevents your contest from going idle! Active contests attract more Designers.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed. Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Please note: if you're asking for a design that will require several hours to create, to attract Designers willing to invest that amount of time the prize should be at least $400-$500. All "Character" style logos fall into this category.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested." We'd like to know what you don't want so we can give you the design you do want.
~~ The first phase of the contest is the "Open" phase, and everyone can submit during that time.
~~ After your contest's initial "Open" phase closes, it will enter the "Top 5" phase; only the top 5 ranked Designers will be able to submit revisions at that time.
~~ The "Top 5" Designers are the first 5 Designers in a contest, not the first 5 designs.
~~ When "Top 5" ends, the "Judging" phase begins. The Designer of the 1st place design will be the only Designer who can submit revisions at that time.

I don't like curly fonts as by #1. Rather I like font types of #4 or #2

Please always add the subtitle

You can find picture of how an apperture of a camera lense looks like by Google. Just type apperture in the picture tab.

Hi,

So far all the logos are in black and white, which I request as a base color. If you believe an additional color would improve the design, feel free to do so.

Dear all

Funny thing, almost all of you are using the inititals RF to combine with the aperture. Actually in the question form I clicked that I'm not interested in "Letterform Mark". However some of you surprised me and I must say that the initials with the aperture can look great. However I would like to see also some designs with only the aperture and without initials.

Dear all

I would like to thank you all for your efforts and your ideas in the open phase! To get a better overview and to make ranking easier I decided to move all logos after 5th designer place in the non interesting box.

To the top 5: Of some of the logos existing many different versions. Again to clean up a little I decided to keep only my favourite types and remove the other versions to the non interesting box (I always provided an will provid a comment what I didnt liked about these versions). I will stick to this policy until the tournament is over. I believe this also helps you to better understand what I'm looking for. Of the remaining designs (espescially ranked 1 to 10) I ask you to always upload the desing with white and black background.

I'm looking forward to two interesting remaining days.

Dear all

Rather the ranking the white and black background version always together, I ranked now only one of these version so that all of you show up in the best 5.

Dear all
The top 5 phase brought some awsome additional designs that made it very difficult for me to rank. After a lot of discussions I remain with #56, which was already favorited after the open phase. Differences are very small compared to #155 and #131: Best dynamic range of grey tones, same great looks on both black and white background and of course personal taste. The top 4 designers have all made a great engagement over the whole contest I would like to thank you for. A special word to designsbyrenukka who brought up the idea during the contest to to bring in more content to the good looks. Even though he worked out some very nice designs (#152, #105) I decided to stay with my original idea.
I wish you all the best for the future.
