What We Do
We are a church and the driving purpose behind everything that we do is to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

Color Preferences
There are limits on color however we want to make sure that the logo looks good on white and that a reversed version of the logo looks good on black.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
We are connected with a group of church called network churches.tv (that's also their website) who receive video teaching and resources from lifechurch.tv (also a website). Our logo will need to look good with the Networkchurches.tv logo because they have a graphic that says "a part of..." and then their logo.

We are different from most churches in the fact that instead of a preacher getting up and speaking we watch a video every week. Our church feels a lot like going to a movie theatre.

Logo Designer
Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ You, the Client, are very important! Your active participation is the single greatest factor influencing this contest. Active participation by you, the Client, helps you get the logo design you want!
~~ What's active participation? It's updating the brief with more information for Designers to work with as the contest progresses, providing feedback to Designers on their entries when they're submitted, and ranking designs at least once a day.
~~ When you provide feedback to Designers, you increase the chances of getting the logo you want. More feedback = better results!
~~ Leave private feedback by clicking on a design. Feedback will be made public upon contest completion.
~~ Rank designs at least once each day -- this will encourage Designers to submit more entries!
~~ Ranking prevents your contest from going idle! Active contests attract more Designers.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed. Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Please note: if you're asking for a design that will require several hours to create, to attract Designers willing to invest that amount of time the prize should be at least $400-$500. All "Character" style logos fall into this category.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested." We'd like to know what you don't want so we can give you the design you do want.
~~ The first phase of the contest is the "Open" phase, and everyone can submit during that time.
~~ After your contest's initial "Open" phase closes, it will enter the "Top 5" phase; only the top 5 ranked Designers will be able to submit revisions at that time.
~~ The "Top 5" Designers are the first 5 Designers in a contest, not the first 5 designs.
~~ When "Top 5" ends, the "Judging" phase begins. The Designer of the 1st place design will be the only Designer who can submit revisions at that time.

I'm more a fan of logos that the logomark is more abstract. The ones using 4 pieces to come together to make one piece are actually good because we explain our church with 4 elements and there's a subliminal message in that!

http://www.lifechurch.tv/ - their logo is simple...attractive....the feelings I get when I see this are modern, innovative and fresh. The other big plus to this is that their logo looks good on black and it also looks good on white. That's huge for branding purposes. I wouldn't mind seeing some designs that had a thin extended font like this. I also would mind seeing some logomarks with the Radiant Life initials (RL).

I'm not saying you have to copy the lifechurch.tv, but I am saying that I really, really like it!

Hello, just curious: how many different people are ranking these entries? This is for an organization that I believe has many 'decision-makers'....is that the case?

There are many different requests, and many different styles that seem to be picked. Is this perhaps due to the many people (assumed) to be giving their thoughts on what is preferable?

And...ultimately, who will be making the final decision on these entries?

Thanks in advance for feedback. Designers will use this information to give you a logo that fits you best.

Right now I am the only person ranking these. However, when we get to the end of the open phase there's a team of about 5 people who will all have some input. For that reason I'm looking for a variety of different styles to choose from, however I have probably the most influence in the decision (not saying I've got 100%, but I'm a videographer and motion graphic designer so they lean heavily on my expertise).

The most influence the rest of the team is going to be making is going to be based on "I like this" or "I don't like this." From a design perspective, most of them aren't going to know why or why not. That's why I am making all of the comments. I speak designer language that they might not know how to communicate the same way to you.

Here is another church with a very brandable logo that we like. At the top is there main logo. Towards the bottom they have that same logo reversed on black.

Hmm where? :/ http://www.lifechurch.tv/ ??

Whoops....sorry! The other site is http://elevationchurch.org/

I'd rather not have any crosses, hearts or sun rays in the logo. That's too typical for us.

One of the main things we want people to feel when they hear our name and see our logo is HOPE. Life isn't always easy but there's always HOPE! Maybe that will help give some inspiration.

Right now we operate as a church under a different name. Our website is http://ubcabilene.com. I purposely left this off, because I wanted to see fresh new ideas because we are starting something new! Our purpose, vision, values (http://ubcabilene.com/vision) and the overall way we do church will stay the same, but we are relocating, relaunching and rebranding.

I'm not going to be able to rank or give feedback for the next 5 or 6 hours. I will give feedback as soon as I can.

I don't necessarily want this to limit your ideas or creativity, but I tend to like logos that can have a few different variations.

What I mean by that and what I'm looking for is this...
1. Looks good on White and on Black
2. The relationship between the text and the logo mark; I think the text is most important and the logo mark is there to make it interesting. I like to have a variation where the logomark can be on top and smaller (so the text stands out) and then another variation where you can put the logomark on the side of the text.
3. I also like to be able to clearly explain the meaning of the logomark and what it stands for. Our last logo we branded as each box stood for a different element of our purpose and vision.

I know I keep posting lifechurch.tv stuff, but the way they brand is excellent. This is an example of what I'm talking about being able to have several variations of a logo under the same brand. I also went ahead and put some pictures of how they use their logo on the sign of one of their campuses.

Okay...each of your work looks great!!! So now let's refine these ideas.

This is what I think is going to be best for our branding:

1. Letters within an encapsulated box will up the main logomark. Each of you have letters or some sort of symbol that are very unique an placed inside some sort of shape. However, the way the letters are laid out need to be very brandable by themself in a flat color. Say just black. (I wouldn't mind seeing samples of this)
2. The main logo will have the logomark above the type, but it is also important that the logomark looks good on the lefthand side of the text with the height of the logomark being the same as the type or maybe just a smidge bigger.
3. The logo needs to look good on black and on white. On a white background the type will need to be pure black. On a black background I want to see the type in pure white. The colors that seem to work best for this that I have already told some of you are #b20107, #f7941d, #016db2. I would prefer that the colors on the logo mark be those flat colors with no gradients. We will look at those first.

So...the logomark...white initials...flat color shape behind. Now for the typeface...I really like all of the type I see right now. I honestly love the extended looking Euro type of LifeChurch and I am so tempted to use that. My only concern is that it would be too close to theirs. I would still like to see these choices in that. Thank you all for your hard work and I'm just sorry that we can only choose one logo in the end! You all have been hard at work. This is my first logotournament experience and I have to say that it has been a great one so far!!!!

I want to make sure all of the designers know that I am giving lots of feedback to designers making revisions and as we get closer to the end of this competition I know more of what I want and a lot of the logos are starting to look more similar. It's because I'm asking you to do so. That is why the colors are the way they are. I've asked you to put them in those colors, shapes, etc. I have followed the rules and given feedback to designers without asking anyone to copy another designers design. Please do not hold a grudge or take this out on your fellow competitors. The reason the logos are looking similar is because you are getting closer to my vision which is getting very refined. Thank you.
