Color Preferences
The boat itself is slightly off-white, with black canvas on top. For colors, we are very open, and want it to be bold and stand out. The lettering should be able to be read, so if there are background colors, text will need to stand out.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
This contest is for our boat, a 40' Meridian Yacht. We boat on Lake Michigan. This logo will be used on the transom of the boat. See 'oldname.jpg' picture, and is approximately 11" tall and 5' wide. I plan to use a local company to print this on vinyl. The picture shows the old name (Element of Fun) - but I want the same placement. We will have the new hailing port (Kenosha, WI) printed separately, and is generally just plain text. It's possible the logo would make it to tshirt, mugs, etc - but not the focus right now.
The name offline is a play on words of being 'offline' from a technology perspective, but also being 'offline' as in boating as well. I am a geek by trade, and always 'online' - so our boat is our 'offline' area.
My family (wife, daughter and myself) enjoy tropical vacations as well, are not opposed to a mix of a tropical feel combined with techie/nerdy.
Here are some ideas that we've been verbalizing, but are completely open (and strongly wanting) other ideas. Don't let our ideas spoil the creative process. Creativity will play a big key in the final design, as we want this to be unique. We see enough boat names next to a palm tree or starfish.
- Separate keyboard keys with each letter of the name, perhaps with the key background could piece together picture across, island/tropical/marine themed. Would want separate keys.
- Wording of offline, with tropical accent. With a logo/picture incorporating a line (rope) turning into a networking (ethernet) cable that looks disconnected/broken
- the name offline, in a techie font, but inside the letters, instead of being solid - have it with zeros and ones (binary) making up that letter. I can provide the binary for each letter if needed.
